in 2017 2.75 million sales, more then $82 million and still things are coming out at snail speed.

Ok, I have a question to Frontier about Elite Dangerous slow development, and it’s the following, Why is it that in 2017 you have passed 2.75 million sales (source: http://massivelyop.com/2017/08/15/elite-dangerous-has-passed-2-75-million-sales/ and your Twitter https://twitter.com/frontierdev/sta...lite-dangerous-has-passed-2-75-million-sales/) (more even in 2018) x $29.99 which is a total of $ $82.472.500 that things still are being developed so super slow. I just have that question and I’m sure many other customers also would like to know, the money is there to expand your dev team to release content faster not to mention the promised content like space legs, planetary atmospheric landings and all the other things PROMISED (back in the beginning when you were still in the crowd funding stage) id really like an answer to this as it should not be possible at this stage of development and earnings by your company.

so yea thx to the people here on the forum that information is clear now and i for sure did not know that was available

1. Not every copy sold at $29.99
2. The money they make from sales is not all profit.
3. Those sales have been spread over three years.
4. Coffee and pizza costs money. Especially good coffee and extra cheesy pizza.

Plus..

Wages for ALL staff not just developers etc

Furthermore, if I ask you to do a job as quickly as possible you will make mistakes, if I tell you to take your time, you'll make (hopefully) less mistakes. This game has a 10 year development plan, we're in the 3rd year. Cool your engines.

ahmm what ever even at $70.000.000 and what you are going to tell me that their expenses are more than what 30.000.000 heh ok well i cant look in their wallet but i can imagine how and what and yes thats what i said over 3 years but still........ smear that over 36 months and still its $2.290,902 per month..... lets say they keep $1.500.000 after all the expenses its still $1.500.000 per month.....

Nah, they clearly all work for free and FD pay no sales or income tax or any other overheads. Apparently Braben can be seen driving around Cambridge in his diamond-studded gold-plated Ferrari.

Please don't ever go into accountancy or business management.

You know? I was thinking, since we payed for that nice new building, we should be able to use it for meetings, parties and stuff. Like a Fire House. As long as you promise to clean up after yourselves you can have Lan Parties and/or DnD nights there.

yea yea bla bla facts are facts... you calculate then hmmm? i know taxes etc still they keep allot in their pocket with all expenses out you can try to defend it but its fact.

in short i mean with all their expenses etc still they keep a nice amount as profit and you can say what you want i dont care, the fact is with that money they can invest more and make things be released out faster so yea. and accounting heh you dont have to be one to know how and what :) its just basic, nothing special

Facts? The only solid figure you have is the amount of sales. The rest is pure speculation and spurious extrapolation.

It's a public company, so you can read their annual reports. Or buy a few shares, go to the AGM and ask them directly.

Their 2017 revenues were actually around £35M, they have 300 staff working on 3 games, and two more in early development. They are committed to a platform/games as a service approach, but their goal is to build a portfolio of successful games, not put all their eggs in the one or two baskets. The long term best interests of Elite are served by a solid and sustainable business model.

Throwing money at development can increase speed, to a point. Too many resources can create a "too many hands in kitchen" scenario causing a slow down.

Money doesn't increase the speed a product is developed, only how long it can be developed. No matter how much money i pay i will never get anyone to build me a mansion in an hour.

I have video evidence. I'd show it to you but it's on VHS.
