Since "Beyond" is now apparently Elite Dangerous 3.0 what exactly am I getting for my LEP?

Accidently deleted part of you thread and replaced it but autocorrect on my phone reared its ugly head.

Dont act on your assumptions as they can end up being the mother of all mess ups.

You could have just explained that and said okay.

I guess it's a good example of why we should deal with people face to face and not report them. Eh? ;)

Agreed. I have only reported one post on these forums since I have been here, but it was pretty unpleasent so it was deserved.

Just for anything from FD Ed on Lave Radio last week said they are keep working on game, and he said he looks to space legs for most (and of course he can't confirm anything because he most likely also don't know).

Skins are DLC; LEP holders have to pay for their skins like everyone else; LEP holders do NOT get ALL DLC for free...

Not happy with the micro-transactions. When I bought my LEP, FD hadn't even mentioned anything resembling micro-transactions.

Those who don't own a LEP, be grateful you will never feel the amount of betrayal that the LEP holder does.
Yeah, because skins aren't really DLC.
LEP owners, get ALL updates free, this is a great deal, yes 3.0 is going to be free to horizon users. You will get all that will cost, for free.
You have in no, no way been betrayed, you still have a massive advantage, it seems that you simply want 'more' because you got it. There are players that do not have LEP that have willingly paid for paintjobs to get them and through that support frontier, and probably people that have paid more then you, should they also feel betrayed? I didn't get a LEP, my mistake, and it happened, but if I did, I'd be quite happy, because

I'd get all content free when it comes around, and not needing to pay more like everyone else, ever.

yeah.....that's a pretty solid deal no betrayal, but people seem to want more? because 3.0 is free? because frontier is basically saying "Ok lets fix this without asking our users to pay for it".
Basically their good behaviour, compared to so many many many developers or publisher of late is causing you to feel entitled for 'more' and and seem upset? that people are getting something without paying because you paid very early.

Here's the thing, you bought the lifetime pass, you chose to do that, just like people choosing to pay for paint jobs, you chose to do that, you are getting what you paid for, if or if not an update is free doesn't change that.
Seriously, take some responsibility for your actions, instead of complaining years later about the fact.

I have two copies of the game both with horizon, should I be entitled to something because of that? heck no, I bought what I bought because I wanted to, just like you bought LEP, you are getting what you paid for, you never need to worry about expansion cost.

Now I don't know if this has been raised before but I remember them saying there would be stages of "updates" free of charge but that there would be new paid content post 2.4 so I was surprised to note that this beta is for v3.0 of Elite Dangerous. Therefore I am wondering exactly what we LEP purchasers are going to receive this "season / whatever" in return for our not inconsiderable (in my case anyway) outlay?

When the LEP was on sale some of us jumped in and purchased it, some of us read the small print and some of us just made the decision to continue to support by purchasing the updates separately.

For those who read the boilerplate/small print you would have realized that the LEP guarantees you nothing, no future content, absolutely diddly there was no promise made that future updates would be created. So there should be no other expectation other than to expect that IF future paid for updates are made you will get them free.

On a separate note, which has been mentioned in this thread, the idea of exclusive content for LEP owners as a "thank you", would go against the commitment made by FD when the LEP was announced to the community. i.e. that all content would be available to purchase, for those who wished to continue to support FD in this way. I imagine a decision to make available exclusive content would not go down well.

Paint jobs are optional extra for everyone. They are not needed for any gameplay elements.

Why the need for an insult? I said I looked and there was nothing at all about 3.0 being the release of "Beyond".

Because you dared to 'criticise' the one true space game.

Just be grateful you didn't mention Star Citizen in your OP, or this would be you.right now under the weight of fire you'd be recieving.

No meme? There's normally a funny picture in your posts....

Zac said at FX17 that the LEP people haven't been forgotten, and there will be paid-for content. He wasn't ready to say what it would be.

Regarding your point about what Zac said. Its all well and great, but theres nothing concrete. People are quite right to get antsy when they pay £120 for 'all future expansions' and it turns out in 4yrs theres been... one.

And Ed said it again in one of the recent streams (cannot remember exactly which nor his guest at the time, maybe Sandro). That said, as a LEP owner myself, I'd like to know a bit more about what I'm waiting for : some minor / cosmetic stuff ? A major announcement like Horizons ? Or something in between ? Suspense is killing me :D

Much better. And agreed, if I had a LEP, I'd be wondering. The folks who paid £80 during the Kickstarter have already more-or-less broken even (base game plus Horizons at their initial prices), but those who bought in to LEP after release are still roughly £40-£50 down. I'm guessing (hoping) that the development plans for E: D are being pushed out, so we may well still have ten years of new features to look forward to, many of which will cost money, so it should be very good value in the long run. I couldn't afford LEP, so I'm quite happy that FD decided that the year of consolidation and rework ("quality of life") lacked the major feature that would allow it to be chargeable.

A clarification of the order of events is needed here.

At FX17 no mention was made of premium content, all the stuff announced at FX17 was the free stuff. Because no mention was made (relevant to an LEP owner) a few of us requested clarification, Zac's post was this extra info about premium content.

£100 down. More if you include the current discounts on Horizons, it was £130 I think?

Or was it £120 and Horizons for a tenner on top? I forget. It was so long ago.....

Especially as "10 years of paid updates" has turned into "1 year of base updates, 3 years of the first season, and now we're not doing seasons any more".

It's not a case of "we want stuff for free", but "we want stuff worth paying decent money for". The Beyond updates being "free" (included with Horizons) suggests that nothing in the future will be worth paying for, which essentially means Frontier have run out of ideas and the game only has 1-2 years of life left; then they just have to backdate the "10 years" to 2010 or whenever they're done.

You can't include current discounts. That's just silly as you have already had years of benefit of horizons which is worth something.

Looks like people trying to start a witch hunt to me. No matter what FDev do they will be guilty.

I agree that retrospectively applying discounts is unreasonable. If we buy at release we must accept that the product may eventually end up in the bargain bins. The LEP has so far included Horizons (£30-£40) and beta access (£5).

I dunno so much, if it's good enough for the goose... ;-)

Yeah, fair enough. Never had to pay for Beta though. Never done it.

The LEP also included the base game (40£ at release).
You have to add that in too if you want to calculate the total value.
