After the Beta 3....silence

The sound of silence from FD is deafening.

Nor is it encouraging, given that Ed Lewis stated, "The release date for Beyond - Chapter One will be announced in near future...", which means that in another week or so, we may get the DATE of the release...but not the release itself. Sony and Microsoft have to approve the update for their devices but I cannot imagine they did not have the finished release version in advance.

I know we are all waiting anxiously for what looks like a pretty good update but - and I hope I'm wrong - I just have a nasty feeling that FD are going to delay this release until the very end of Q1.

Any thoughts anyone?

Ensuring that one essential engineering mat is entirely missing from the upgrade isn't quite as easy as Frontier's devs make it look, you know!

Yes, they released a "beta" very early (almost no one was expecting it until the end of Q1 - until they announced the beta date).

They got lots of feedback on their ideas, and discovered some of them needed more work. (e.g. Galnet Audio, e.g. Crime & Punishment changes).

They are now busy working to rectify their ideas, rather than pushing out yet another rushed release.

The game will be better for it.

Have patience.

And I hope this is how they approach all future updates too. Hopefully FDev have finally learnt that they can't design a perfect game entirely on paper, and instead need to get feedback on how stuff works (or doesn't) in the real world.

But maybe they should have called it an "early beta" to set expectations a bit lower.

The irony is, if 3.0 came out this week and had a few bugs in it, the same people would be complaining about how FD shouldn't have rushed it.
