After 3.0......

Will the Annie and the T10 still be used for trading? Or will they be relegated to other roles while the trade skies are filled with T9s and some Cutters (used by the mega rich)?

I'm just genuinely curious, as I'm 99% certain on getting a T9 at some point (the 1% being the chance of me doing something randomn. It happens), so it'll be interesting to see what other trade commanders will be flying at CGs and the other such trade groupings, and how many dopplegangers I'll see.

So, what's everyone's thoughts on the matter?

Sure. The T9 will carry more but still jump shorter than the T10 and quite a bit shorter than the Anaconda. At least the T9 will now have a perk to make flying it worthwhile depending on what you prioritize. I suspect many traders will still fly the Cutter over the T9 anyway, even after the buff. I'll fly the T9 because I don't have the rank for the Cutter, lol.

That's the point. If for some reason you can't get a Cutter, you get a T9 now. The Annie at least has super jump range, so I could see that as a long range hauler, but I don't really see why anyone would trade in a T10 after 3.0.

However, I often miss something, which is why I made this thread, to get other views I probably hadn't considered.

I trade in a T-9 because the Cutter handles like a block of soap on ice.
The Type-9 handles like a block.

And with an extra 256 tons of cargo space, well... it way outhauls my not-stripped down, anyone please shoot me-I love 20m rebuys, nothing but cargo racks Cutter by quite a bit.

Exactly! First thing I did was selling my Cutter when I read about the T9 being buffed.

The Anaconda has the advantage in jump range which makes it (in my opinion) a better choice still.

I love my Cutter, it works brilliantly as a multirole ship. Plus it looks so damn cool. But I also love my AspX, DBX, FDL, Python and Vulture. I also enjoyed the Chieftan from the beta and I'm in the process of trying out the FAS.

The Anaconda being "relegated to other roles"??? It already dominates most of them... hence the reason it's the most sought-after ship for Mostly Harmless newb pilots.

If anything, 3.0 doesn't go far enough to address the multirole overshadowing of dedicated role ships, IMO.

Wow. Even the Cutter might not stand a chance, lol.

Is jump range that important to you? Interesting......

If I don't just keep using my T10 I'll get a T9 again. I actually think the Cutter is ugly, like all Imperial ships actually.

Disclaimer: not meaning the design here! That's pretty awesome, it's just not what I like as a space ship.

They do look a lot more like aircraft, than actual space ships. As an aircraft fan however, I'm not complaining. The Cutter in particular, reminds of a Boeing 747, and that's awesome.

Even with the buff I'm not interested in getting the T9 again. I'm perfectly happy running cargo in the Cutter. My Conda will stay a module running ship. Great for visiting the engineers. The T10...I think I want one but I don't know if I want to spend the money on it.

If you travel x% faster while carrying x% less, you earn the same. Its every bit as important as carrying capacity. Add the superior defensive capabilities and agility, and the conda is still very amazing. And more expensive. The T9 is now an excellent choice, but not the only one. The T7 is also pretty amazing for MUCH less. :)

I have a Python for trade, why would I trade in a T7? That ship, to me, is much better served with passengers, cos most of the time, those are large pad. Trading quite often requires a med pad, and when it doesn't, you use a ship bigger than a Python. At least, that's my reasoning.

But I get what you're saying. It didn't make anything 'obsolete', it just gave us more choices. Interesting....

(Probably say that far too much, lol).

Yip! Most pronounced for 100+ ly, but if you can cut down total number of jumps down from 2 to 1, you're a lot safer and a fair bit quicker. Jump range is pretty important for maximising income per time.

I'm coming at this a little differently. I've never flown a T9, or an Anaconda, or any other large ship. The last time I flew a T7 was before it's buff. But I came to the Pleiades in an explorer Asp and got absolutely battered trying to help the damaged and attacked stations. I bought a shiny new T10 to do what I could.

It was absolutely bloody marvelous! :D

I'm back in the bubble now and, like everyone else, using a Python to farm credits and run missions. When I've got a few rebuys put by, I head off to worthy CGs in my shiny Chrome T10. He carries a lot of material, so I know I can make a difference. I could use a T9, but the extra cargo capacity is small, the difference in defensive capabilities is huge. I don't have much of an urge to get into a space cow just yet.

Post buff is a different matter. I'll be adding a T7 and a T9 to my fleet. I quite like trucking anyway, doing it in dedicated cargo ships makes sense to me. If they're buffed the way the forum experts are predicting then I'll be able to run medium range, medium sized cargo in one, short range, heavy cargo in the other. Find a suitable base, make lots of profit, bankroll other activities in my other ships. Simples.

It'll get me out of the Python and who knows, if they work as well as advertised, they might even be worth taking to a CG!

As for 'other roles', I fully intend refitting my T10 as a battleship. I'll fit the biggest shield I can cram in there to go with all the reinforcement he already carries and a decent upgrade to the weapon fit. It should build a hilarious warship- get Lemmy bawling out 'Bomber' in the background and go looking for trouble!

(Rebuy screen, here I come! [haha])

After 3.0 - that's some time away, 3.0 is all this year. Anyway it will probably be Panther Cutter for trading. /thread

3.0 is the upcoming update, for which we had an open beta. The update after that will be 3.1, and the one after that 3.2... why would every update this year be 3.0?

New T-9 for 1-hop local trading, Cutter for long-range trading and chipping in on CGs. Anaconda where it's always been for me (since the Cutter): exploration and relocation. T-10 for multirole, but mainly fighting.
