Is this system rare - planets between rings?

I just discovered this system - and I don’t think I have ever seen planets BETWEEN rings like these, and the rings are very wide.

The two planets are right above my red line here. I landed on both of them.

Is this rare?

EDIT: The system is PYRALEAU OZ-N B52-3. I should also mention that another cmdr discovered/scanned the ammonia world, the first body from the left (last picture), but everything else is me - including the main star.

It's not unheard of but it's not common either - a nice find.

For me it is extremely rare.
I never encountered this configuration.

Thanks to both of you [smile]. When I go exploring I always land on a planet each time I take a break from the game. That way I’ll land on more planets(yay!) and get to experience how dramatically the lighting may have changed next time I play again. All I was looking for at that time was an interesting planet to land on.

Yup, not common from my experience - only found a handful over the years, though without actively looking. Never seen one with a binary between the rings, though.

Iv found one too, its those "giant ring" gas giants isnt it? What does the galaxy map show for the rings? The one i found displays the rings incorrectly, possibly only showing the two inner rings and not the masive outer ones. There is a pic of the one i found in the explorers photo thread.

The small moon orbits inside the rings but the gas giant has a huge orbit to get round the rings and at first glance orbits closer to a pole to pole orbit rather than around the middle which i thougth was odd.

ooh nice find!! If you are still around, do a manual dropout in the rings as close to the planet as you can, but still be in the rings sphere of influence, and watch how fast, or slow the planet is moving compared to the rings!

At some point of my exploration career i was interested in big rings, so scanned a lot of these. This is more or less the standard configuration for wide ring system + moons combination
I hope i dont sound mean

but if you keep scanning objects with wide rings, you will realize this is quite common.

I've seen it only once while exploring. But they weren't twin worlds (orbiting each other) like those you found.

The system map actually only shows the two inner rings.

The planets are too far away from the rings to see anything. Just tried it but they were only two dots on full zoom. I’ll get back later on but right now I am heading for the bubble.

That would make a brilliant Tourist location (if it's not too far from the Bubble). I wonder if FD is still looking for new sites.

It’s about 7400 ly from the bubble.

When I am back in the bubble I’ll post the system name. Perhaps I can do the remaining 100 jumps tomorrow.

Keep in mind the objects in the system map are also not to scale.

I just finished an expedition and one of my objectives was to find a moon within the rings of a planet, but the closest I came was a moon that was just a few MM beyond the edge of the rings.

This one is from tonight. An Ice planet with huge ring and two moons inside it.

Edit: OP actually shows moons between the rings. I should learn to read (and watch...)

They are pretty rare, a spectacular one is a giant ring system at Alnitak. It is a giant O star, in fact you can see it in the star at night.

I can say I have seen it myself, but it was a ring system around a star, so technically I guess they were planets not moons, and the star was in orbit around another star so it was complicated, the ring system was huge 25m+ kms wide with a 15m km gap so plenty of space for a few planets. Going to visit it on my way through to Colonia probably after 3.0 drops. I have some picture somewhere I am sure;
