Have you ever heard of (Sir) Ken Robinson?

His videos on the flaws of modern education are brilliant - he's funny, compassionate and, above all, right. Yoochoob 'im.

Never heard of him...as fer flaws in education, I can write a book on it based the system making the exact same mistakes with my daughter that they made with me. I actually fought them in court over issues in real life. Ill have to look the guy up, could do with an alternative to listening to Ant and Dec in the background ^

He's a very entertaining speaker, and one of my heroes as a teacher.

Yer a teacher? Not like my old teachers who used to use the cane on the palms of yer hands till they bled...yer one the cool modern teachers yes?

I would just like to say that I am watching two chimpanzees having a discussion about improving access to education. Overall, I think that's a good thing.

Tbh theres worse debates could be taking place...enjoy the little things ^

I'm a thoroughly modern monkey. :)

I'd take issue with describing myself as "cool" - as far as my elder kids are concerned, I'm possibly the most embarrassing thing there could ever possibly be. :)

I'm not working in the system in the British Isles, although I'm qualified to. My experience as a student was rather mixed - a lot of the teachers I had didn't know what to do with me. I got very lucky though. My dad was left-handed, and actually caught the very-end of being punished for it. That's something I never had to deal with.

The kicker for me is that my kids are going through an education system even more focused on obedience and conformity than the one I went through - my rather strict school seems positively Bohemian in comparison. Yay Japan! My kids will bloody well know how to read and write, but there's a vanishingly small chance they'll get the opportunity to be creative in what they do in school.

One of those chimpanzees is a smoker. Hasn't stopped for years.

Disgusting.

That was actually the point I was making...as fer how I write stuff...more habit than intentional I write exactly what I think and write with an accent...and I very rarely proof read and correct meself because I actually couldnt care less if it triggers someones OCD or not...their problem not mine and it wont make the slightest bit o difference to me.

If it help, then education was a particular weak point fer me and school was...a troubled time period so if ye wanna consider me dumb, Im actually ok with that ^

I can't blame people for things beyond their power.

Or it could be the murder hobos at Founders World. Maybe it's that.

Murder hobos are certainly annoying, but they are just a symptom, not the main cause.
The main cause is that people tend to "herd up" at certain locations, be it FW, CGs, or places made notorious by third party tools and "grinding meta".

If everyone did their thing, they would naturally spread out and griefing wouldn't be a thing. :)

Yes, I ground up to my first 1.3 billion credits and all Powerplay modules* and all ships unlocked, entirely in Open, without encountering any PvP harm at all after the few days in which it took me to learn the ropes, merely by avoiding hotspots or flying appropriately un-killable ships when I didn't.

It wasn't difficult and if anything felt slightly too easy.

*OK, not the meh-ning laser.

Even though I don't play open, I do find it ridiculous how Fdev actively acknowledging and trying to combat ganking, is somehow going to make open any worse. That just sounds like attention seeking to me.

Yeah, poor old Zemina. The only appeal her power might have had for people would have been a PP-specific module. And she gets a mining laser [squeeeee]
