Hoping to see this in Elite someday

This has just been released for Aerofly FS 2 and it is fantastic, even if FDev would implement just the stick and throttle controls so we can do the finer flying details like landing and dog fighting etc with our controllers.

VR pilots with motion controllers can now fully operate any Aerofly FS 2 aircraft with your own hands; every button, every switch, every lever that is currently operational in the aircraft can be operated with your virtual hands, using real-world gestures the same natural way that you would in real life.

So what about the flight controls? We have you covered! Grabbing the yoke with your virtual hand(s) gives you full control of the yoke.

So what happens if my arms get tired keeping my hands in the air while flying? We have you covered here too! We have designed a system that will allow you to fly with the analog sticks/pads of your motion controllers so that you can not only put your hands down for a rest during your flight but also give you the ability to keep control of your aircraft while in other views.
This new feature will also allow you to use one or two motion controllers in conjunction with other physical controllers, so whether you have your own flight yoke and rudder pedals or just a basic joystick that you can’t part with you can now add this new freedom to your configuration for an ultimate flying experience. The possibilities are endless.

HOTAS... Nuff said.

Actually it's not, I have had a HOTAS with elite and it's great but adding this kind of system and if they take it as far as Aerofly you could interact with all the menus and buttons etc, adds a ton more immersion to the game.

Not everyone has a HOTAS or wants one, this gives a fantastic option over using KM or a game pad.

Your ship's cockpit doesn't have all those dials, switches and buttons, so there's nothing for your virtual hand to control, even if you wanted to.
KM, controller or joystick is pretty much it.

We could as well have "Rogue System"'s kind of control workflows too.. 3 hours playing the game and you are still in the landing pad, with all your missions failed.

You have all the screens to access as well as the flight controls with your in game hands.

I think the screens are out of reach, i.e further than arms length in most cases (maybe not in some of the smaller ships) and motion control based flight control is inferior compared to control via physical devices. Simply put, while it may sound great on paper, the reality is that the required work to impliment such a feature is huge and only a small percentage of a small user base using VR in Elite would use it.

That said, I can control the station menus using Oculus Touch via an app I've been developing. While it's quite cool to do, it's no where as quick as using the hats on my HOTAS.
