5€ for a few dots of light? Ok...

And the reaction of pricing to supply and demand is hardly ever instant or without reactive elements. You saying that 5€ is ok for lights because supply/demand... riiiight, as the supplu and demand have been so well defined for an item that just released? And yea, actually housewives do write/talk to their stores about prices, and actually it matters. WEIRD!!!

I am not saying 5 is alright for the lights. I am saying that if YOU think it's too much don't buy it and if the rest of the people feel the same, the price will go down.
And no, the letters don't matter. If you will keep buying stuff you're whining about, letters won't change a thing.

The customer always want what they are buying to be cheaper. The seller always want to get the best bang for your buck.

We can say some things are better value to what you get, subjectively but a consensus. The 6 pack livery is the best value for money for instance. You are not alone in feeling that the lights are expensive, but I choose to not pay for it. But it is their product and game, and FD will set any price they want. They can sell it for 20 USD if they so wish, we don't make the prices up. They SHOULD price it sensibly (to get any moolah), but they are not obliged or must do that.

Broadly, yes. I have actually been ok with the paint pack prices personally but haven't heard that from much anyone else. 3,50€ for six, even if just recolors, isn't bad imo. The textures take some work too. Pretty much different than the lights. Which are more expensive.

3,50€ for a sixpack of recolor skins is ok for me, 4-5€ for a few points of light= totally not ok. Some feedback here from an end-user.

I respectfully disagree to a percentage staggeringly close to full hundred, but that's ok though.

Not sure the issue here. I've never bought a bobble head, or weird kiddie comic sans letters, nor have i got a paint job, new clothes, or special tattoos, and yet my ship runs fine. I also like the voice that is there now.

Having said that, i also have a thrust master warthog throttle and stick, saitek peddles, a 1080ti, and a oculus rift... so i can spend money from time to time on gaming things.
I'll get a little angry when they start selling ACTUAL ship core upgrades that you can only get from the store.

Honestly, if I had to worry about paying £5 for a game item, I'd stop playing games completely, it would definitely mean I spend more time advancing a virtual career as opposed to my real one. £5 is a train ticket, a coffee and a sandwich, it's nothing in the UK in 2018.

General thoughts on pricing, bit long winded so I'll spoiler it for the sensitive types.

I think the individual paint jobs tend to be reasonable. The packs are ok, though at best I'll use two colours, usually only one, so that always feels like a bad deal. Especially if I just want a matching Mother Ship/SLF combo.

Ship Kits cost too much imo, I have bought one and enjoy it, but in terms of just feeling like I got value for money, I don't.
I feel like I supported devs of a game I enjoy, and that's cool, but it's different from value.

Decals are ok, imo, as are nameplates.
I think basic ones should come free, but being cross ship accessible I do feel like I got my monies worth. Same goes for weapon and engine detailing.

Bobble heads, too much.
Though I enjoy the one I bought, and put it into every ship I use, I still think it should have been half the price. I'd have probably bought 3 or more, as it is I'll stick with the one, since again I didn't 'feel' as though I got value for money.

Clothing, I bought an outfit rather than a flight suit, and that felt expensive. But the fact it's quite customiable and my avi is always in it, it didn't stick with me as a bad deal.

Overall I think they should offer a basic suite of free items (not just the sunglasses, flight suit and PP decals you can get if you know to ask for it.)
I mean a choice of 3 or 4 generic colours when you buy a ship and some standard nameplates at least.

If the argument is that no one will buy anything (which I don't believe) if they give a few basic options for free, then what you are saying is that everything is overpriced and that the only reason anyone would pay is because they felt forced to. What would that say about the product?

Yes, I agree with all of that, bought many liveries, all of the common ships that I use). I also bought some nameplates, and one set of flight suit. Not too bad considering I got the game between release of Vanilla and Horizon and paid half price for the latter.

I just feel we are going around in circles here. Make it clear, I agree with every single point of the value of the add-ons. Anyone who disagrees with that either hate's all DLC of any sort or have no sense of money. But..... again, just don't buy it. I'm sure Frontier have data on what gets sold, and what doesn't. Apart from expressing directly to FD, which this may not be the best place it anyway, voting with your wallet is the best way to go. Just because is totally not okay in your opinion, doesn't mean FD actually need to conform to your wishes.

There is a difference between is not okay to sell something at a high price, and the sort not okay that requires actual action.

Heh, you basically took what I was thinking and put it in text. Totally agree with the sentiments on the pricing.

Where can you get a train ticket, coffee and sandwich for a fiver in the UK?

Hmmm pushing it here, Tescos £3 meal deal, and a single from Croydon to south Croydon, chances are you'll get robbed on the train though :D

I did get a Megabus once from Liverpool to Manchester, 3 quid! Result

Well that seems pretty self-obsessed.

Sry, couldn't resist :D

It literally reminded me of this :

Disclaimer :
I own *cough* quite a bit of Paintpacks etc.
But the typical "overpriced Coffee" pricing of the Frontier Store I always considered as some sort of "extended Kickstarter", since their prices admittedly are way beyond normal MicroPayments found in many other Games.
(isolated moneygrabs to the tune of EA & Co being exceptions that created their own reputation with it)

BUT that said... noone puts a gun to your head, so these purchases are voluntary.

Ahahahaa!! The unbelievable GALL! Although honestly can't say for sure which I find more appalling, this or the fact that the new voices are actually not free of charge. Never imagined the voices would cost, too (I know, I was naive, hindsight 20-20)! [haha] That one I will still buy though, at least when I next use the store while drunk.

Also very impressive that the paintjobs are out before the ship is! Does not seem out greedy at all, no Sir!

Glad that FD have managed to keep the online store up-to-date better than the update itself. Spot sarcasm, get cookie.

Not well impressed with today so far. Unless you count the feeling of being a target of a low blow impressed, well, then yes. Quite impressed. Take it as you will.

I have a really bad feeling about all of this, the update and the future of ED.

Truth is they have just released a FREE update to a game you own and are giving you a FREE additional voice to use in the FREE update. You then have the option of buying others ... seems fair to me :)

Supply and demand, eh? That makes it alright, yeah? You've paid into the illusion. It must new okay then. ... There is a massive rabbit hole to explore, You wanna? Wanna delve there? You could always ignore people. The usual stance is based upon the ';educated', Well, I've yet to meet them...

Hey, I'm still playing, ticking in 5k hrs in the next weeks. I am just not satisfied with all aspects and that's why I make myself whine about it over the forums. Ok let's cut it; the bigger reason I even made this post was because I had time as servers aren't up.

Overall... I am not unhappy with ED. In the slightest. It breaks my balls (not talking about the store here even) but hey, if that ain't part of the charm (yes it is -no pain no gain)

Hey, stop complaining, 'its just cosmetic', said with Jim Sterling's voice.

Sry, LEP holder here. All these things are "free" to me, since I paid for all of them in advance anyway :D

I'm not complaining though. But once in a while some of the items do make me scratch my head (?)
Looked at those light dots mentioned in the Thread, saw the price and was... *lol* dafu ?! IMHO OP has a point. That's really all it is.
