New COVAS voice pack on the store (so new voice packs are going to be store items then)

Whilst this is good to see, I'd rather we had voices for all the NPC chatter in game.

Would certainly help the galaxy feel more alive if we could hear the NPC's.

This is such an obviously cool thing to do that it must be on the list of "things that need to happen sooner rather than later"!

Little people on the station landing pads and in control towers is also on my xmas list!

As for the voice pack ... bought it as I own the HSC one :)

The patch notes mentioned we were getting Victor as a new ship voice and Verity who we've already got. I dont believe the patch notes mention Celeste at all.

Also as it seems that they are going to be using some of HCS's work to build these new voice packs (bar Victor) then I fully understand them charging for it as they are using others work which they would presumably paid to use.

Hi :)

OK that detail I overlooked. tho my view on cosmetic style content in a payed game that is then paywalled is still as I mentioned "bad".

I'm really glad FD have decided not to paywall particular ships or modules, or anything else essential to gameplay.

That leaves cosmetics.

Surely no-one thinks everything in the store should be free?

Well to some players cosmetic-style content is also a part of essential content, "like making your character look just right (mass effect, dragon age)"

They suffer even tho they payed the same.

The thing is anything cosmetic does not have any effect on actual game play or P2W (Pay to Win) they are there to enhance a players experience of their game and allows them to tailor the game to hw they would like it.

Frontier selling these is in my opinion not putting things behind a paywall but raising capital which will be reinvested in the game,

Frontier remember is a business with employees who would like to get paid at the end of each month.

When not having a paint job stops you from flying the ship, then you will have a point.

Right now, you don't.

My view is that it could be a lot worse - at least its restricted to cosmetic stuff.

I will admit though that I'd of liked Frontier to provide a couple of skins for each ship free so new players or players with less free cash to spend could at least have a small bit of variety but fully understand that Frontier are patching the game regularly and could of even had the Beyond as a chargeable expansion so they have running costs and they arn't charging us a subscription to play the game.

To put it into prospective I paid £20 for the game in the December 2015 Steam sales - if I hadn't bought a few skins thats all Frontier would of got but provided me with over 2 years of updates and had the costs of running the servers (I'd imagine that at full price it would of only cost £60 total).

C'mon you're sort of stretching this to breaking point here, there is plenty of customisation in game and having a different voice/ ship skin in a game is in no way essential content.

If it gave you a tactical advantage or increased your ability to explore/trade etc then yes I'd agree with you but essential? no, not in any way whatsoever.

I just checked other new items in store, and man oh man - those corvette icarus skins are juicy! (white with black and red is my fav)

I'd like to hear open comms chatter when system security drops in to dispose of undesirables, be it me or npcs baddies. Honestly more voice chatter like that you get around stations would go a long way to make our universe feel a bit more lived in.

I absolutely approve voice packs being sold as cosmetics in the Frontier Store.

Ongoing development and maintenance costs money- this game isn't subscription based (although I would pay one, if it were) so the money has to come from somewhere.

People already buy voice packs separately as third party products, so I see no reason why they should have issue with it in ED itself.

I don't owe you or anyone in this community an apology. You all have short memories and make me ashamed to be in this community. You all flip-flop in your opinions and jump on whatever is the popular opinion at the time. Not one of you will stand up and defend what is fair or right. How dare any of you demand or expect ME to apologise.

As for owing Frontier an apology ... Yes I can concede that might be the case, but like I said, you all have short memories.

If you expect others to admit when they are wrong, then .....

Oh, the humanity! ;)

I never wait on anyone's apology. A forced apology is rarely sincere.

It's the responsibility of one to learn the valuable lesson which comes with the expression of an apology- if no lesson has been learned, then it's not sincere to begin with.

I know what voice pack I'd pay for (but it would have to be done right).

NOT COOL FRONTIER

I will never buy one from you. You are deliberately trying to take business away from another company.
I wish I could say this is the first time you've done this, but it isn't.

NOT COOL FRONTIER.

How do you work that out? Its their game LOL !!
