I don't "like" it either. Believe me, you should see who I vote for.

However, for FD to continue to function, it needs to make money. There were two choices. Optional extras, or subscription. The impression I get from you is that you wouldn't be here at all if it were the latter.

However, I have to tell you that you are objectively wrong in saying that skins are needed from gameplay.

They're not. You lose nothing for not having them.

They did put a few ships behind a paywall by making them Horizons only.
No, i don't mind it and no, they are not essential...but they did.

I'm surprised that the new voice packs are not free.
Not against it, FD has got to be paid, I was just surprised is all. Were they free at least for the LEP owners?

Thinking about it I may pick up a Celeste pack after the update myself, bit tired of Verity nagging me about my landing gear :)

I edited Astra to randomly say "Are you sure?" and other stuff like that and it was inspired by HAL. But she does what she's told. I haven't gone as far as actually making disobey I don't want mess things up.

David Tate was the voice of Eddie the Shipboard Computer on The Heart of Gold but I think Stephen Moore's version of Marvin the Paranoid Android would be much, much better

Also (how many times do we have to say this), Frontier are working with HCS Voicepacks ... it's by mutual agreement.
Or at least that's my understanding until someone from HCS says otherwise.

The voice pack is nice. I like that they're adding more variety (and they added an included/free one at the same time as the first paid one, so you don't have to pay to get Verity out of your skull if you don't want to).
I look forward to a voice pack with the much debated "Imperial" accent. "Sounds like a whine" and "accentuated vowels" could be amusing.
As for competing with HCS... why would that be bad? It's very common for games to look at what the modding/third party community is doing with their game and say: "Huh, that's a really great idea! We should do that in the base game so everyone can enjoy it!"
Imitation is the sincerest form of something or other.
