T-10 Defender as an NPC Bounty Hunter - FAIL.

Last night I was interdicted 3 times, for my HOLD of GOLD by a NPC in a T-10 Defender*

What a total fail (for him) so we're in normal space and it's 1km, 2km, 3km, 4km... & bye!

I was in a trade Cutter.

Is this a realistic vessel for FD to be assigning to BH NPC's, how does this work?

* It was a mission NPC.

Surprised you bothered to submit, only time I submit is if I want to collect the bounty. Personally like the fact that the new ships are interdicting and flying around as NPC's. Would be nice if they included Cutters & Corvettes flying around in SC.

Interdictions in it's current form is simply a way to give a cmdr the choice to submit and collect the bounty, or barely follow the escape vector and still win. Not complaining about how easy interdiction are, prefer it to the buggy interdictions we used to have.

As far as if it's a realistic vessel to be interdicting, of course it is, if a Cmdr was at the helm it would have been a different story. With NPC's it is the same deal no matter what ship tries to pull you out of warp. You either outrun it or kill it.

The vessel that spawns is random, so presumably all ships are on the list of possibilities. They can also change (I've had a mission NPC drop off my scanner, just to reappear again five seconds later in a completely different ship!)

Many interdictions during mission running don't make sense, like the PowerPlay ones. My Cutter regularly gets interdicted when I head into Cubeo - most often by a couple of small ships. I mean, really?!

So... Is this realistic? Not really. Hopefully FD can tweak it so that NPCs aren't quite so suicidal - though they don't really seem very concerned about it. :)

If he's stopping you for your hold of gold, he's not a bounty hunter, he's a pirate. As a pirate, he needs a means of carrying the loot off. Suppose he had been flying a Vulture or FdL and demand a hundred tons of gold, woudn't you actually stay around and look where he would put it?

This is why the Cutter is still king of the traders, despite the T9 buffs. No NPC can catch it.

Submit? Force of habit. I've not bothered fighting one out for years :D

What's the fastest a T-10 can go? A quick (very) look at Coriolis indicates 309 stripped out with best DD5's. As a choice to take on a Cutter you're immediately at a >100 mps disadvantage. In this case 140 mps slower, Cmdr or not!

Is a good point. Perhaps Pythons/Clippers would be more realistic. A lone T-10, it's got lot's of cargo space but no means of catching it' intended prey i.e. a Cutter.

Oh yeah it also had crazy Supercruise abilities :D

I mean to say I'm not writing to FD about it but it just seems an odd choice for that kind of work (on it's own).

I was interdicted by a pirate in a T-10 yesterday, too. pirate was flying a Defender without any turrets -- not a wise choice when your ship struggles to turn around inside the radius of Mercury. It did not go well for him. :D

Yesterday I was in my FAS and got interdicted by a goddamn Sidewinder. When I finally managed to climb back onto the chair after laughing so hard, I noticed that he actually had a friend with him. No idea what it was though, as it was instantly obliterated by the police that arrived very quickly to "rescue" me while I was playing cat and mouse with the sidey.

Cmdr v Cmdr Cascades and drag munitions. for NPC's vs Cmdrs, npc's are always at a disadvantage, nothing new there.

I really think the whole idea Of being interdicted needs to be rewritten!

It’s just pointless as it stands. There should be fear from it!

I think it should be randomised and the more attempts made against the same player or ship the easier it gets.

Or depending on when and where you are when your interdicted.

Your ship should stunned by the event so even if you’ve got good fast engines it’s an scary experience.

It will help out pirate activities... but with the new crime and punishment laws it would balance it out.

Remember that not all commanders are playing at the same magnificent skill level as you in the game. FD have to provide entertainment and challenges for everyone.

Got into fights with dangerous Chieftains. My are those annoying, especially in a weighted down Python. Only few windows of attack for me while they always manage to fire everything at me, no mater where they are. Think I have to get one now. They seem mint.

Have they changed something, or are you submitting? AI interdictions are pretty easy to escape. I don't think I've ever been pulled from SC by an AI.

Players do it too so I'm fine with it. Players frequently interdict you when flying a lumbering space brick that almost anything can outrun (corvette, anaconda).

Lol, not much skill in boosting away, I've got no weapons on my Cutter and just legged it. That's what I mean it was never ever going to win that game
