Seen few videos where players get destroyed by ATR.
They seem really difficult to fight. Are they engineered?
What engineer mods they have?
Are those mods real or do they use cheats?
Only Vultures or there are different types of ATR ships?

Thanks for any info!
I am really enjoying this! :)

Read the C&P outline offered by FD. Below is the relevant portion to the ATR:

Advanced Tactical Response
• Authorities now have access to new security vessels: ATR (Advanced Tactical Responders)
• ATR ships are kitted out with top tier hardware, in exclusive, customised configurations. They are extremely competent pilots.
• ATR ships can be summoned once a Commander has committed enough crimes in a jurisdiction.
• The security of the system determines the level of crime before they are summoned
• ATR ships arrive with full knowledge of their target and are pre cleared to arrive "weapons hot".
• Once ATR ships respond to crimes, they will continue to respond until the Commander leaves the system.
Another piece of the crime consequences puzzle, ATR should also help mitigate Commanders attempting to exert excessive influence in the background simulation.

Looks like they use hardware that regular players can't have.

There is another thread somewhere discussing that very aspect. I'm in favor of it. Why have a bully tool that doesn't work?

o7 Commander.

It could have been interesting if it didn't boil down to "super magical handwavium powered shield disappearing device".

What would have been wrong with ships that have devastating flight skills and the engineering to match?

Your tears provide salt as well.

Not tears at all my friend; ATR ships will have almost zero effect on my gameplay stylings. What you detect from me isn't salt, but rather a sense of frustrated disgust that this is the best they could do, and it's not even remotely going to serve it's intended purpose. Before you congratulate the ATR on how effective a "bully club" they are, just look around Dangerous Discussion a bit and read up on Harry's little demonstration yesterday.

That requires effort to make... and that's not Fdevs style.

Exactly. That is precisely what I'd hoped to see. Nailed it.

Personally i dont mind to fight wing of 5x Vultures equped with all the engineering mods possible. But not impossible.
I believe it would be a challange anyway. And why only Vultures? Chieftains, FDLs, Condas.. Why not?
The most important thing for me i wan't to feel that real.

Hmmm... It's like Smoked Sea Salt. All kinds of gourmet flavors coming out.

You know, it is cute watching forumites trying to be "in with the cool crowd" and thinking they can win any discussion by using the word "salt".

By merit of the very same handwavium tools rather than competent, actual "tactical" forces, they are still not even an inconvenience unless your goal is to take them on directly. And even then we had people defeating them even in beta, because you can abuse their handwavium by working around it. I have had zero hassle from them myself. So...couldn't be less salty xxx

Turn about is fair play.

Exactly. I have zero problem with a truly robust security response, and have been requesting better, more well equipped and aggressively flown NPC's across the spectrum since the community begged Frontier to nerf the original 2.1 NPC's. My problem is that the current implementation of ATR make no sense in the big picture, add nothing to the overall game environment and rely completely on magic. I would love to see a wing of Elite security forces deploy flown like true Elite pilots and armed with g5 weapons and modules...that were obtainable by all of us. That would be effective, and actually make sense.
