[SUGGESTION] please add the ability to log into any ship we currently own

please allow us the ability to select which ship/system we want to log into when we start the game. this way we can start the game at any location we have a ship sitting in. for example upon login the game will ask us if we cant to use our anaconda that is in {system/station} or another ship like a imp. clipper that is in another system/station. and after we select which ship we want we start the game in that ship/system. this should not remove ship transfer as it can still be used. BUT this feature is needed for sure. it's basically the ability to log into any character (only its a ship instead.) and/or the ability to have a second commander on the account. then start selling commander slots as Micro transactions. cause that would be tons better for everyone than to have to buy multiple units of the same game.

Once upon a time in Frontier: Elite II...But that was single player offline.

Nice idea, but no +1.

Unfortunately, and I really don't like having to use this excuse,
mode-switching would make that way too tempting to exploit...

We'd all have virtual insta-travel to the limits of the Milky Way.

Edit: A handy way to get out of the new C&P detention, FREE!

This should be a default feature.

Anyone interested in exploration has exactly one answer to a new friend wanting to play with them (or an old friend returning):

Sorry, I'm over a month out on an exploration trip, so I can't play with you at all.

What a great way to encourage friends to buy the game.

at the start of the game ?

really not stupid, during the transfer of ship I told myself it is rather the commander that must be transferred.. but this idea is unrealistic (not necessarily because it is also logical to reach his car by taxi than to repatriate his car).

whereas if this is done at the start of the game .. we are still in real life, it works, this will allow to play a smuggler, a trader, an explorer when we wish it.

it is true that going into deep space .. there may be some monotony or loss of interest after a certain time that we are forced to undergo to continue playing (risk of leakage).

the fact of being able to do this will thus make it possible to renew the interest in the game without making any effort and do not impose a gameplay that we have largely integrated and play.

to avoid abuse (apparently some people are afraid of it), we should choose our default ship.. and this one can be changed once a week for example.

I argue a little to justify this idea +1

Hmm, I can see that getting salt, here I am just changed ships for a week of exploration out near beagle point and a CG starts up I want to take part in, but here I am stuck in the BP area for a week.

Much better would be to allow multiple CMDR's per account, no shared anything, just a second CMDR you can play. Many people already buy more than one account for this very reason, having multiple CMDRS would satisfy the desire to do different things due to boredom (although how anyone could get bored exploring I don't know) and avoid all the potential exploits, And it's no problem bringing up another CMDR, after all I read all the time how easy it is to make money now!

on the road to the center of the galaxy, 10,000 ly I had a moment of disarray .. a desire to come back to do something else like trade or fight.. but has 10,000 ly I could not do anything else than exploration.

the idea of having several commanders would not bother me either.

I would like Taxi Service from A-B, if it takes some time like module transfers then that's fine for me, better if you can get a friend to take you.

Right now you can join your friends via Multi Crew, I know it's not totally ideal but if we're physically inside our ships then quick travel to any location does not fit. I know of course now if we die we end up teleported somewhere but that's the way it is.

Some commanders have separate accounts for explo and bubble, I might invest in a second account when I hit triple elite (I do actually own the base game on xboxone as well but it's a struggle to play that when you're used to high end PC.)

^this

To start in another ship with the same commander would only cause too much exploits.

But having a second commander would be a nice thing.

i only came up with this due to the idea that somehow frontier is against or not interested in the idea of having more than one commander profile per game. if people actively pushed for the ability to have a second commander enough we may actually get it i don't know. this was a work around so we the players are not stuck
when you need a break from doing something else. i mean i feel that if i have a anaconda 20K ly and i want to do a community goal that is in the bubble i would have to fly 20k ly back. where as if we have a second commander or a ship in the bubble we can select that and go do that while the other ship sits there waiting for us to resume where we left off.. this would work for solo or open i mostly play solo anyway. i will update the original post to reflect both options as a possibility and flexibility. as for equating this to real life.. eh... it is a game also and does need game conveniences because simply put being a game means not all real life necessities fit in the confines of a game nicely. or even more simply put. real life does not always = GOOD game play.

Personally, I think that is a terrible solution to the issue and solely encourages Frontier to include deliberately gameplay-hindering features in their games to make more money off selling accounts.

Multiple CMDRs would be a much better solution that would actually be customer-friendly.

Of course it's not ideal, however when they have specials you can get an extra CMDR for as little as $5 so I don't see them making a huge profit from extra accounts. I haven't seen anything from FDEV about multiple CMDR's per account for a long time though so we may have to put up with that we have. I can't really see them allowing us to log into any ship we own either, so we have to make do with what we have.

What about creating a Passenger Taxi Mission request i.e.
"CMDR [X] need transport from [] to [] and pays xxxx CR for the trip" - just like NPC Passenger Missions that are available on stations.
Another CMDR takes the mission and CMRD [x] can either join multi crew during the flight or just spend the time in a cabin (log off and and do something in RL) and will automatically disembark upon arrival to destination station.

or just spend the time in a cabin (log off and and do something in RL) and will automatically disembark upon arrival to destination station.

Only to log on and find he's been sold as a slave to the empire because they were offering more money :D

The problem is people can find ways to take unfair advantage of anything. A player could for instance decide simply not to take you to the destination station, he might like the company while on the way to Beagle Point. Or just fly around as normal just never go to that station, or if they made it so you could avoid that by getting out at any station fly to Colonia and tell you to get off there where you have no ships and it's 20kly to bring your nearest ship. Or let you disembark at a station with no shipyard! There are endless ways to torture people with this feature, probably many more than I have listed here.

I would prefer a game controlled feature not player transportation, yes it does limit game play for people who might genuinely like that idea and would do it properly, but not considering all the ways players can be nasty to other players is why we have a complicated system of C&P now instead of everybody just being nice to each other and making it unnecessary.

You might think it a terrible idea. But it does help frontier. I have 2 accounts. I know that money goes back to help make new content so the game keeps going. Once in a while, I pay for paint for a ship or features I don't really need to support Frontier added content.

If they add Multiple CMDRs. You should have to pay for them. To keep Elite Dangerous going. We need to add rules to Multiple CMDRs. Like you can't trade Credit, Modules or other things should not be shared. Even the stuff buy in the store. Maybe a 10 15 Minutes before logging into the other account.

Funny how a game that is about the joy of the journey, the experience in space, turns out into "how can I grind faster?"

Not everyone grinds, there are some really nice groups out there that just play the game, but try telling some people that you don't have to grind to play the game!
