Modes Will 3.0 Increase, decrease or have no effect on Open population?

Yeah, isn't it 32 possible for pc / mac and 16 for the game plats? I think I read that somewhere...

Those are the stated ideals alright. But it's like any theoretical limit; it wobbles one way or the other.

PC and consoles folks aren't going to be in the same instance ever.

Well, even if people start to wander back to open mode.
I doubt they'll stay long with joyful folks like this about;

Not sure how true / honest this post is, but either way it rattles enough cages to make folks think twice about even bothering with open mode if these are the folks you'll find there.

Ahh the EDC group, miss those carebears since they banned me almost a year ago.

Dont see the problem. With or without them grinding credits like that. Sooner or later they would have done it. BECAUSE ITS PART OF THE GAME.

Get over it. Its part of the GD game. Stop complaining about it.

Straight for an insult when there was no need.
Thanks for reliably proving my point over and over about attitudes of "open only" advocates.

You do see the problem, but you choose to ignore it as it undermines your argument for Open Only play.

It's things like this you should rally against, EDC and Reddit are gaining more and more posts along the same lines.

Yet you want to promote Open Mode to people who don't want to play with exploiters / cheaters / lame players.
So this should have you in a fit of outrage, as it's just another reason for people to stay in PGs or in Solo.
Where they don't have to put up with children in cheat ships with lousy attitudes and no idea how hard getting credits properly is.

I most certainly will not risk my hard earned ships to someone who's only played for a day or two and kept board flipping / exploiting missions that are clearly paying out far too much.
You want to play in Open mode with them, go for it - go shoot each other and enjoy yourself. I'm quite happy playing with decent people in my PG.

Then stop complaining about the modes... THEY ARE A PART OF THE GAME..

... sorry man, but you really think that everyone playing in PG (Solo) do not use cheats/exploits etc? ... It is only not spoken aloud bcs it is not popular. PG advantage is only that there is not direct competition. All other is related to player and his character/behaviour and is not tied at all with chosen game mode.

Well, i know some open only advocates have been seen playing in PG/solo a lot recently, beavering away doing skimmer missions or grinding engineer mats.

Maybe 3.0 has actually reduced the number of people in open, what with all those open only players grinding away in other modes :p

I believe most players don't use cheats/exploits, regardless of mode, because most people are honest and have a sense of fair play. Which is why the argument "everyone is doing it" rings so hollow.

The type of player who would cheat will do so, regardless of their mode preference. In a single-player game, this genuinely has no impact on my game, because we will never interact, even indirectly. Elite: Dangerous, on the other hand, is a multi-player game where most of the interaction is indirect, even in Open. As such, cheaters have the potential to impact my game, and nowhere do they have a greater potential impact than in Open, where direct interaction is possible.

Which is why a lenient stance on cheating by many "Open Only" advocates confuses me. Most honest players don't like to play with cheaters, and if given the choice, will choose not to do so. ED gives players that choice, and whether or not you're willing to put up with cheaters directly depends upon whether you view the benefits of playing in Open as being worth the hassle. At the very least, Frontier's overly lenient stance on cheating emboldens the cheaters. If Frontier was more willing to penalize cheating, I think more players would be willing to fly in Open.

And here is imo one from biggest irony in ED, bcs if you are involved in BGS (or Powerplay), then "exploiters" (or use any name you like) will directly compete with your effort no matter which mode/platform they (or you) will chose. In open you have at least chance shot theirs **ses ... .

.. btw I not intend to attend much more in this discussion, I only wanted remind that there exist also circumstances which are not so visible.

Oh of course not, I know of Solo players who combat log when NPCs pull them over.
But nice way to ignore the point.

Anyone who exploits / cheats / cheeses the game in PGs / Solo, I do not have to play with, so I don't care about them.
Playing Open mode however, opens me up to playing with people who are just as morally bankrupt but will at some point end up in my game.
And I don't want to play with those people. So I won't. And while I'm in my PG, I don't care about those people.

So while 90s and others like him go on their crusade against the mode system, people like the one in my picture show a very valid reason to not use Open mode.
Perhaps if the crusaders put their efforts into badgering Froniter to close loopholes / credit farms and promote decent game play, they'd have more folks to play with.

Define cheats. Skimmer missions are a cheat now? Since when? Who said?

Board flipping to stack skimmer missions for 100mill/hour isn't exactly playing the game properly is it.
People resetting their saves and getting A rated 'Vettes, 'Condas and Cutters in under 24 hours, isn't normal game play.

That post you screengrabbed is pure bait.

Worse thing is people can't help themselves with responding.

Did you read / understand my last comment there?
Do I need to explain the point?

Not all "evils" in the game can be blamed on the mode system.
It's the attitudes of some people that is the biggest killer for open mode - because in my PG, I don't have to put up with them.

Like in other MMOs where I keep "General Chat" turned of or minimised, I don't have to see or put up with people like that.

Do you honestly think that someone who uses cheats/exploits to gain an advantage in Solo won’t also use cheats/exploits, including suffering from “sudden network failure syndrome,” to avoid exactly that scenario from happening in Open?

And boom.

People Openly bragging about board flipping and skimmer mission stacking for 100 million or more an hour (some saying up to 350 million) and Frontier have locked out skimmer missions.
People going nuts on Reddit and in EDC Facebook because they cannot accept skimmer missions (but other missions from that station are working fine).

Now for a credit rollback and I'll spend all month laughing. Because that was clearly broken so using it was clearly cheating.
Come on Frontier, give me something to laugh about for the next month :D
