Wing Missions taking over the Mission Board and Rare Mats Awards

Hello Cmdrs, 'Billy-No-Mates' here, so i play in OPEN but in SOLO (IE: with my best mate................. ME!!)

So i am after CIF, MEF, EFC, you know all the high end good stuff for these ever hungrier engineering types. Why is it i can, now 95% of the time, only find these higher end data/mats being rewarded for the 'Wing Missions'??

And why at 4 places yesterday the entire mission board across all 5 factions where wing missions only? I know FDev want me to play with Friends, but guys I have none and want to play with myself, (But that is for my other forum ;) ).

Come on FD, what about us loners, Fairs Fair!

You can do them on your own. I run a 752 ton Type 9 in Open. Been having a great time hauling.

Allied Boom States you can get Wing Missions going both ways. I don't take anything over 3000 ton normally and grab the odd 120 or 180 ton if the rewards are great.

Feels more like hauling should be. Still I want you to also see more of the old type of mission too.

Flying Wing missions Solo takes some planning but is rewarding, mat, gameplay and money wise.

OK, with the Cargo wing missions, cept this is with my new account cmdr who is quite poor and can only afford Cobra/ T6 etc. No way am i doing these wings cargo missions in a Cobra/T6.

And no way will i be doing a wing Kill Mission on my own either. I hear the Terrorist/Pirate target has quite an escort, and again my Cobra is not that well engineered (Hence the hunt for the higher end Mats/Data) to take on a huge wing++

Too bad that MEFs are only needed for overcharged weapon upgrades, so the only people who do not really need them are the same people who are likely to be willing to fly a T9 in the first place.

It's the same stupid design decision as in the case of Palin or the painite loving engineer gal.
"Are you a combat pilot? Do you need fancy engines or some fine armor/HRP mods?
Then it's time to enjoy two days of endless load screens or some other mind numbingly boring 'activity' like shepherding stupid suicidal drones in an asteroid field."

getting 20 painite takes 30mins.. its a non argument, im sorry.

You're forgetting that 1 MEF can now be traded for 9 CIF. That makes them rather more useful now. :)

You can trade MEF for large quantities of lower grade mats, like CIF, used for drive upgrades.

This was also the problem when they introduced missions to colonia.

We really, really need the ability to request that the mission boards only generate missions of a certain type these days... there's just too many mission types and not enough offered of the type you're interested in, or the faction you want to do them for.

It would fix:
- Too many Wing missions (or not enough, as the case may be)
- Too many Colonia missions (or not enough, as the case may be)
- The absence of sufficient Luxury-class passenger missions to make that class of cabin worthwhile; and
- Board flipping for particular types of missions causing strain on the mission servers.

80% of missions which are generated are wasted effort. What we need is a mechanism which reduces the raw volume of missions generated, and increases the likelihood of accepting them.

There is another mat between the MEF (G5) and the CIF (G3), the name of which I cannot recall atm.
Surely you can use MEF to get CIF, but it's not the only purpose of its existence.

If that helps you, I think I figured out the easy way to solo these new pirate lord wing missions in a small ship (I did that in a Vulture, not a Cobra though).

All you have to do is to start shooting the main baddie as usual, not giving a crap about his wingmates. Try to do as much damage as you can. If you can kill your target before your shields collapse, you're king. If not, boost beyond sensor range, reboot, then turn back. By the time you make it back to the mission target his wingmates will have HWed away, leaving your target all alone, just like in the good old days. :)

Before 3.0 I could easily get MEF and EFC from data missions, but haven't seen one since 3.0 dropped.

In fact, I don't think I've seen any material rewards for data missions now.

Plenty on wing haulage missions, but I wanna fly my courier...

Anyone else seeing this, or am I just getting bad RNG?

Guys & Gurls,

Any chance we can swing this back on Topic that i started the thread.....Wing Missions taking over the board and Wing missions only offering the Higher grade Mats/Data?

Possible fix is for Wing Missions to have their own section on the Station Notice Board??

Yes, this one change would improve the game immensely.

Let us request mission types before board generation please.

i guess i was wrong then. sorry for that.

still doesnt take 2 days tho, with my mining rig i mine 250ish tons per run.

Your mining rig and your general experience in mining is no doubt superior, I give you that.
That was not the point.

It was that an engineer so much obsessed with mining should offer some fancy equipment like a shiny high-cap refinery or some not-so-dumb limpets or the like, something that is useful for miners. Not combat-related stuff.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. That wasn't my intention.

I really do agree with what you had to say about wing missions being virtually the only ones offering good material rewards.
I just wanted to add that on top of this most of these wing missions are of the "transport thousands of tons of crap" type, which are not soloable at all unless you are a dedicated trader.

Nice tip. Repped.
