Modes Crime and Punishement update seems to have worked...

you are going off the premise that everyone is going to now go engineer their ship to the max.

Even I've started engineering.
Apart from the system being easier and user friendly now, having traders takes a chunk of the grind out for rare mats.

My 756T T9 currently has 17Ly jump range fully loaded and I'm not finished. It's only "C" rated and part engineered.
My combat Cutter also has a half decent jump range now.

I'm well happy :D

No..im going off the premise that not only gankers are going to engineer their ships to the max.

Yet Gankers have never gone after those who could defend themselves, how is that going to change? Not everyone is going to engineer their ships to the max, or engineer their ship at all.

True, but more people many engineer now and be able to defend themselves, so the not so dedicated gankers may get fed up running in to ships that can at least hold on for ATR support.

Well then anyone who was never going to engineer their ship and wants to fly a hauler has exactly the same chance as they had before then..which is zero.

So nothing changes in that regard...

Can you really defend yourself against HP's 2.5 k DPS frag cannon Clipper? The classic run n gun shotgun your face build from so many FPS's. In fact, I think he stated the dps was far higher with double shot legacy and premium ammo... he can prolly beat down the tankiest builds in less than 15 s. I'm with many of you. They are just sussing out the rules, picking Anarchy home bases, gearing up ships, and padding bank accounts. They will be back.

I don't think he's going to burn through the "tankiest shields in under 15s" at all. It's reasonable to assume that if you're in a good ship with A rated and fully engineered modules, included "tanky" shields, you'll have about the same chance as before of surviving to Hi Wake. Plus, keep in mind that not everyone is going to have Legacy modules that are quite that effective. I do wish they'd removed all Legacy secondaries.

Edit: I suppose it depends on what you guys consider "tanky."

Yes. There is no build that you can not defend yourself against.

so what is so great about Crime & Punishment then?

Nothing, they waisted their dev resources over nothing. People who cant outfit their ship properly wanted FDEV to hold their hands and punish gankers except the PVE players got it the worse because PVE punishment is also brutal.

Gankers dont interact with the enviroment so they wont be affected. C & P was fine in 2.4 and so are the engineers.
The only thing that 3.0 did right is the planet surfaces. They look amazing with this release.

Read the OP.

I did.. but you even said that UNLESS people are engineered out the tail pipe then they have 0 chance... and such that means C & P means nothing unless you are into engineering.

People have never wanted FDev to hold their hands, but they do want FDev to punish your ilk since all you can do is abuse people in game.

"Abuse"... really? In a video game of pretend pixel space ships?

The only way they can punish me if they remove PvP from this game. Untill than, bring it on.

Mother of God.

That was in direct response to someone saying "what about the people who dont engineer their ships?"

To which i replied in a nutshell saying they have exactly the same chances as fighting someone with a fully enigneer ship that they had before. This is regardless of the new crime and punishment system because weirdly enough...it has nothing to do with clean ships...

My initial point was im seeing less wanted commanders around. And i suggested that perhaps the new system is the reason for this.(as it might be serving as a deterrent for WANTED ships)

Please note, modded ships can and will still kill clean ships if they really want..its the PUNISHMENT for doing this i was talking about might be enough of a hassle to not bother. MAYBE.

THEN the topic shifted on to " ER MEH GERD IM GONNA KILL EVERYONE WITH MY SUPER SHIPS" to which i replied some may do the same and kill you back so dont get too cocky.

THE END. close the thread. abandon ship. kill me.

PLEASE.

Hey if Open only advocates can claim that those of us not in open are in "easy modes", or "scared", or, "hiding", or any other horse hockey phrase... how can you object to viewing people harassing others in game as "abuse"?

My barrier is unlocking engineers. I think I got access to 2 of them, and know about 4. There is the grind for me. I am not going to hand in x amount of bounties or ferry some rares.

Not that I really care, since when I'm flying in Open I fly in something cheap and empty.

I bet I can think of more ways.

Logging on and getting the message: "Because of the many crimes you have committed, you've been lifted from your bed, your ships have been confiscated and you've been put in jail for the duration of a week, or until you finished this mini game of breaking 10.000 rocks with a pickaxe". I bet that would be a little annoying.

I bet this will never happen, since this is not part of the new C&P.

And depending on where you're flying, you only need to engineer up some good defences to hold for ATR to turn up and help out.

Depends on who you're up against. Honest pirates are probably ok, but the classic PKer are still as annoying as ever.

I was flying an upgraded, low-level engineered T-9 a few days ago. Didn't have the mats for full scale engineering yet, so I only got G3 low power enhanced 7A shields with thermal resist, G2 lightweight reflective bulkheads with some other option, a thermal resist hull reinforcement. Clean thrusters (a T-9 isn't goig to outrun or outturn anything, no matter what you do), 512 tons of cargo space left, SRV, SLF and scanners in the remaining slots.
Got interdicted by a couple of clowns in Cutters. No comms, interdict and shoot. Shields held up for the cooldown period, but they used some form of FSD blocker (not sure which), so I couldn't jump out. I hadn't deployed weapons since I wanted to get out as fast as possible, and saw no point to do so after my shields were gone.

Upside of the new C&P:
- I only had to pay ~half my actual rebuy, the rest was Notoriety compensation
- I respawned at my target station, saving me the SC approach

Downside:
- when I was interdicted 4 jumps later by an NPC DBX, I couldn't launch my SLF since I forgot to take on a new pilot

(Vindelanos: I haven't forgotten you - but the T-9 isn't fully engineered yet, and I'm still occupied with Chicken Run until Sunday/Monday.)
