Dedicated ships for different careers

I just got promoted to Rear Admiral and am saving to buy the Corvette. And I'm getting to a point where I want to really stretch out my wings and play different things.

I currently own 7 ships.
I have my Asp Explorer for exploration.
I have the Beluga Liner for passengers.
I own the Python which will be converted to a max hauler for missions going to smaller bases.
The Anaconda will be used for mining.
There is a Vulture that I have set up for bounty hunting.
A Federal Assault Ship that will be for skimmer missions.
My Type 10 Defender is the big trader.
And once I get the Corvette, I plan on it being mainly for big combat missions.

So, my question is, do you guys have any suggestions on other career paths or activities that could use a dedicated ship? Do you have any suggestions for builds for the ships I have?

Thanks for any tips.

Hmm looks like you could use a dedicated mat collector... :D

I have a Dolphin equipped with SRV and detailed surface scanner for raw material gathering, collector limpets for USS hunting, and a wake scanner for that type of data. It does extremely well, is a joy to fly, and makes mat hunting less of abgrind and more of an excercise in relaxation.

Other ships well suited to mat collecting are the Type 6 and the DBX. Also for collecting combat materials from HazRes and CZs, the Chieftain is a good choice, as are the Fed ships.

Viper III (x3) - Combat
Viper IV (x2) - Combat/General Purpose
Cobra III - Smuggler
Courier - Sir Gankalot
DBS - Scout/Combat
AspS - Exploration
DBX - Taxi/Exploration/LR PAX
AspX - Combat/General Purpose/Pirate/Scavenger

T-9 - Trader/Hauler/Scavenger
T-10 - RES Miner

I can pretty much cover anything that needs to be done with the them. Have a few more ships I want to buy.

Indeed, a Dedicated Scavenger ship and a Dedicated Search and Rescue ship are missing from your lineup.

My own Scavenger ship is an Asp Scout. That's right, an Asp Scout, one of the most useless ships out there, but it makes a GREAT scavenger.

My Dedicated Search and Rescue ship is the somewhat famous Rescue Zero, a distinct Red-and-White painted Orca. Outfitted with a Regen Sequence beam, Repair Limpets and Fuel Transfer Limpets, and an array of Economy Cabins. I've pulled well over 7000 smoked, broiled and well-done Refugees from damaged stations, refueled hundreds of ships, and repaired even more.

So, who is the third person in ED using the Scout? there can't be more than 3 LOL

The Raza is my only ship. A blue cobalt galvanized Cutter. The ship does it all, except outposts. Which, I’m not sure I need anymore, anyways.

You can have a 'support' ships, and play in a wing.

- hull Repair limpets to fix those condas after killing a thargoid.
- decontamination limpets for the caustic damage.
- beam lasers to fix those shields.
- remote flak to help with the swarm.

makes for a lot of fun

I stick to outposts as much as I can. Significantly faster to dock and leave (even the mass lock distance is remarkable), no need to line up with the entrance (approach from anywhere), and usually less busy (rammerz haz no hotzpot), so at the end you don't lose that much time.

Maybe an iEagle or iCourier kitted out for Need For Speed dogfighting and blockade running. It's a nice alternayive to muscle ship farming.

Ok. So in addition, I'm going with a material collector in a Chieftain. What's a good build for that? Also, can anyone tell me a good build for my Vulture for bounty hunting or my FAS for skimmer missions? In all reality, I have very little combat experience. I am not even sure really what weapons are good over others.

Hello, I'd like to talk to you today about our lord and saviour, Keelback.

Did you know Keelback can carry an SLF and an SRV as well as hauling some good cargo? Outfitted correctly Keelback can provide useful bomber support for Skimmer/ground assaults in the SLF. Keelback also benefits from the much famed Lakon hi visibility cockpit. Always useful in salvage recovery/surface recon situations.

Keelback can also be armoured and Engineered to provide maximum durability in and around Haz Res or CZ where the SLF can really rack up the opportunistic kills.

Oh and did I mention Keelback can also launch Hatchbreakers?
