6 Hours searching for Military Supercapacitors - Zero Found! 90 Military Grade Alloys found instead!

This 'game' can be totally soul destroying at times thanks to the RNG!

Six Sodding Hours flying around looking for HGE!

And Zero MSCs found - but NINETY MGAs. Sod this... [knocked out]

Every Day, This Game is Broken Another Way!

That's the nature of RNG in this game. I still believe there should be a method of increasing your chances of finding what you are looking for after a set amount of time. Many other games use this feature.

At any rate, to get some Military Supercapacitors it might be worth taking a look at the material traders if you have something suitable to trade with.

Like 90 Military Grade Alloys?

Are you sure the controlling state is in "WAR" and non of the other factions are in "CIVIL WAR"?

Of course you still can be unlucky. If there is any CIVIL WAR state, it makes the military alloys much more likely.

Just so... :)

This kind of sounds like exactly the situation Material Traders were introduced for. Have a bunch of stuff one doesn't need, or in an excess amount, trade it off for what one does need. There is no advantage to hoarding materials, unless one is of the mindset where they have that one box in the attic that has not been unpacked or even opened since the move 15 years ago, but they can't part with it because they may need it someday.

Yeah. Only trouble is assuming they are a cross-type trade at G5, those 90 military supercapacitors become just 15 military alloys.

Wonderful.... so for 90 MGAs I will get 6:1 trade giving me 15 MSC... Enough to mode 2 modules as each typically requires around 7 to max it... I'm SOOO Glad that my 6 hours of SC flying wasn't totally for nothing.

/sarcasm

I know you are trying to help. Its not aimed at you.

EDIT ; they are both Grade 5 materials.

True, and my experience is not one of grinding out stuff to upgrade a fleet of 37 ships with 50 modules each in one go. I have fully engineered from scratch a handful of ships since 3.0, making generous use of the material traders, and have not really run into any roadblocks with the cross type exchange rate. Sure, a better rate would feel better, but for myself, it has not been at all prohibitive, especially considering that the G5 mats have been dropping like candy, so really, if you've got them, might as well spend them because getting more is a snap.

You should aim it at him. Pointing to the terrible up and side trades is obvious and not helpful. It's something you've no doubt already looked at and vomited in your own mouth over.

Maybe that helps: if I am searching for materials on planets and I don't get what I want, I log off to main menu and switch modes. That shuffles the materials usually and I will more likely find what I came for. I sometimes do that while searching for HGE too. So far I never had to search longer than 40 minutes. But I tend to only collect medium amounts to avoid getting bored too much.

Thanks for the constructive comment! I've just checked the system I am currently in, it is in War but there is a civil war going on as well...

I'll move on again...

So WAR systems only with NO civil war between any of the systems factions... That will be an interesting one to find:

WANTED:

An Independent system at War, with No Civil War factions present within the system.
The system must have a High Population and ideally have a number of orbital stations.
These should preferably be around the 800-1000 Ls distance from the primary Star.
The primary star of the system must be a single star with no secondary stars present.
The system should be preferably be a High Tech Economy (Industrial is 2nd best).

Did I miss something?

As an aside, I went looking for Pharmaceutical Isolators as a distraction from looking for the Damned MSCs... I found 24 in 2 HGEs... within about 15min.

I'm back in war systems again now....

I was going to suggest the same thing. I picked up a bunch of the Super Capacitors the other day when a system next to my home base was in a state of WAR. The Alloys I think are generated from Civil War.

I think I have that right.

It would be cool if you could attack a defended warehouse and steal the materials you need. Or you should be able to pirate ships traveling to those warehouses to get the Arsenic you need.

The shooting rocks on planets mechanic needs to go. Once you find a planet that has the material you want, you should setup a mining station or some kind of extractor. At no point should you need to continually shoot rocks to get what you want.
