So yesterday I was messing around with my computer and I remembered that my MSI GTX 970 card had presets for overclocking and I wanted to see what it was set on so I downloaded the latest version of the gaming app.
The app had a new button labeled VR ready so I clicked it and the app offered to optimize the computer for VR. I thought, yeah, another useless app that pretends to make the computer run better for gaming. So I clicked on it and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I put the settings in Elite to Ultra, dropped shadows to off, SS to 1 and that's about all I did. And the game ran fine.
The other day when I did this I has major issues with judder in the galaxy map and mission board. This seemed to come on after playing a while and wouldn't go away until I dropped the settings to medium.
The game runs at 90 unless I'm at a station or on the planet surface when the ASW will kick in. I don't have an issue with ASW unless it is throttling in and out of it. As long it goes into ASW and stays there I don't get the odd artifacts that you do when it's popping in and out. And on the plus side I get to enjoy better visuals.
Nice to see something work well for a change.
