Powerplay Question about power play bounties in 3.0

What are the consequences of a power bounty?

Does it allow a player of the issuing faction attack you everywhere?

Does it cause NPCs to attack you in additional situations?

I also believe that power bounties should decay the same way as merits, so that they do not stay on you forever.

I don't know what the consequences are exactly for the pvp side, In any case, it is better than the old pure Wanted tag...
I'm pretty sure no NPC will bother you (I had no problem in 20 hours of gameplay as I said, wich is actually better than the old NPC bounty hunters swarm situation)

I think the only concerning point is that this bounty indeed never goes away. But I kinda like it this way, the down side being pretty inexistants in my opinion I almost see it as a trophy...
Wouldn't mind if it would be decaying slowly though.

I think the core problem in PP is the lack of rewards, not the downside of undermining... (To kill people, NPC or not, should have consequences anyway)
10 000 PPCr for rank 5 is just a pure daily boring grind, not even worth the 50 000 000Cr...

If you have a PP bounty and another CMDR claims it, do you need to pay that bounty on rebuy or is it just a bonus for the other CMDR. I can see an issue if after months of undermining you have several millions of credits in PP bounties that you can't payoff without going bankrupt/selling ships.

Also, I noticed that my UM ship has a premium for transporting it as it is "hot". It only has PP bounties attached, so I'm hoping that is a bug.

No definite answer on this from any big boss of the game. Is it a secret or what? Slapping new mechanic on and just one line of explanation in patch notes lol.
Ship transfer premium: I see it too. But does it really add premium or it just says so? It does not state the normal price. Might be a bug worthy for support team

Hopefully this helps a bit:

I read it to say that you do need to pay off the power bounty if another commander claims it.
I didn't think modules went hot for power bounties (they didn't for me up until I gave up with power play).

So will these bounties live forever in the info screen? I'm having to scroll down a lot to see my claims. :D

Yes, I believe so. The only way to remove a power bounty from the transactions screen is for another commander to claim it by destroying your ship. I also understand that they relate only to the ship the bounty was "earned" in. So if you switch ships they should not be present in a different ship. Having just spent two weeks grinding away (without exploits) to earn a Python, I'm not going to throw it in the bin to remove some idiotic power bounties. I can live with them, but am not happy....

I think it would be better if they removed them on the Thursday power play tick. Not a huge deal, but my transaction screens look kinda 'busy'

Having a hot ship or module because of PP is certainly a bug, It wasn't the case for me, and I don't think it's supposed to happen.

If you indeed have to pay of the bounty on rebuy it will be a problem on the long run... I stack 200 000 to 300 000Cr worth of bounty every week, wich means that after a month I have more than a million worth of rebuy added to the (already pretty high) cost of my ship !

PP wasn't really profitable so far, this doesn't help at all...

I feel power play bounties are badly conceived at the moment. I believe the intention is to give other commanders an incentive to hunt down more dangerous players of the opposition, and maybe generally raise the stakes a bit.

A better way might be:
- keep power bounties on the commander
- have the bounties decay over time, as do merits
- the bounties do not change where you may be attacked
- you never have to pay for your own bounty, the only negative is that you become more attractive for other players to hunt down.
- give also some merits for claiming the bounty

I think instead of credits, it should reward you merits based on the bounty of the person you blow up.

A while ago I had an idea that instead of a bounty killing other PP ships you got a 'tally mark' like this:

killsjohnson_151-jpg.1657

It would be on one of your side panels, and would reset on your death. So, with each kill it goes up and you become more notorious with the other powers.

Other ships could scan you, and see the tallies you have.

So, rather than penalising you for what you should be doing, you are rewarded with kudos and bragging rights.

Power Bounties weren't supposed to be punishing anyone, it's just the only mechanic they could implement quickly for the as-yet-unseen 'Top Five Power Bounties' list that would allow everyone to retain a means to track sniping operations and merit bombs.

Clearly, they are not yet working as intended.

I don't know why FD are going that way. What they need to do is something like the trading heatmap, but have activity filtered per power, and per ship scanned in system.

Sorry to say that, but you guys are wrong.

Power Bounties are a prize for an effective and successful PP PvP kill. They do not punish anyone because they give no limitations in starport access or are paied by the destroyed CMDR.

No, there's a wrinkle. See my post earlier and in particular the linked bug report and posts within it:

My Powerplay Bounty, ironically gained exclusively in an Anarchy, is currently causing my ship to be subject to the 'hot' penalties.

Bug report thread:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/413207-Power-Play-Bounty-causes-premium-for-transporting-quot-hot-quot-ship?p=6495759#post6495759

I'd strongly encourage anyone else affected to post in that thread ^^. It was started by another Cmdr but I am supporting it and have posted screenie proof.

Otherwise I'd agree with you, albeit unfortunately there is no way at present to differentiate between PvP kills and PvE kills within the PP Bounty. It would be nice if there were.
