FDev is now promoting money transfer and gold farming

Oh dear!

So we can now give any newb in a starter Sidewinder a 100 million leg-up. They might as well bring back the skimmer massacres. At least with those you had to do something for the money.

Is this done with mode swapping and mission stacking?

Maybe Frontier can address this eventually with static mission pool options for all that refresh faster than what we have now. That way mission rewards could be better balanced overall too without having to take into account mission stacking, at least not to the extent that they currently might have to.

This could also be used to somewhat limit the gold rushes out there so that certain styles of play aren't over-incentivized over others.

There would need to be a wider selection overall though and to have missions added in frequently so they don't all dry up too quickly.

I don't know. Just a thought.

The system I was hauling to had 92m of wing missions right there to take without any board flipping.

The people who were hauling with me earlier and sharing their missions with the group also didn't need to mode hop.

I see. Thanks for the clarification.

It could in theory be turned into a gold farm.

If hellakitty asked for RL money in return.

The real gold farmers so persistent in other games will be quick to sniff this out and set up macros?

Where there's a way, there's a will, I suppose. Not sure if this is something Frontier is going to try and address or not. We'll see.

Besides that though, just normal player progression may be of more relevant concern. I don't know.

Either way, it is an apparent imbalance in the system (for what that system is worth, as it were). I don't think anyone could reasonably contest that.

If it is true it is promoting gold farmers, Is someone under cutting the OP, hence the call to remove their competitors?

I can't believe FD would have missed this on purpose...the lack of player credit transfers has been such a key part of the game because they wanted to avoid gold farmers.

To allow this in willingly goes against a core ethos of ED and I don't believe for one second they are promoting this feature as an option for easy credits or gold farming.

It must be an unintended consequence of wing missions....there seems to be an awful lot of those recently...swing that nerf bat, or employ the mission removal monkey (he's been very busy)

The thing is, it's not really a credit transfer as such. No-one loses anything, everyone who participates gains.

Yeah, obviously not a credit transfer, though I suppose the relevance of mentioning it might be that they have also taken a stance agaist it in the past. I don't know. Just filling in some of the blanks, as it were.

People should be allowed to trade credits if they want.

Why? Frontier are trying to make a playable game here, I would presume, not a player group allegiance free-for-all mess.

For many, the game needs a clear reward system and progression path to stay relevant and to engage them. That isn't really the case for me, but to many, it is, at least so far as I can tell reading these forums.

The fact that credits seem so important to some is the very reason they are leveraged as a game mechanic and progression path toward these ends. Whether or not people see this as a good or bad thing is kind of beside the point. It is what it is.

True, but a loophole like this is exactly what gold farmers would look for and as such I think it might be exploitable.

Not an expert so I'm not sure if it's technically possible.

Yesterday I spent an enjoyable hour or so being bounced on my head in an SRV by Guardian skimmers, today I did a couple of assassination missions and then was given quite a lot of money by a generous person. Best weekend's ED I've had in ages. :)

Frontier's words, or lack thereof, this coming week will be telling.

Well, you've certainly helped encourage the conversation at any rate. It will be interesting to see how this is received and addressed in the future.

As they say.

I hope I've helped encourage discussion of it in a more reasonable and civil way than the incessant yelling and carpet bombing that has ensued with the other recent 'exploits'.

And truth be told, regardless of the politics of it, I enjoyed doing it.

I think you've handled it very well, and it's been fun participating on these forums.
