Grinding beyond Rear Admiral.

So, today I finished grinding to Rear Endmiral. Only because I was interested in obtaining a Corvette to feature in a video later. Yet there are two ranks beyond it that don't appear to offer anything for the grind. Just out of curiosity, has anybody ever tried grinding beyond it? I'm assuming some have, just so they can claim the rank, but I expect most of us are in it for the 'Vette.

Yep.

Sometimes you just feel like doing data delivery, and want an excuse to fly your courier again.

It says "King" and "Admiral" (i think) too which look cool on your status panel.

Just finished King a half hour ago after sitting at Duke for a year or so. Probably half way to Admiral at the moment. I say probably because I'm at 100% Rear Admiral, waiting on a Fed promotion mission to pop to rank up to Vice Admiral.

I hold the rank of Admiral, after I got my Corvette, I stopped grinding rank and just played, before I knew it I was full Admiral. Means nothing other than a fancy title rank.

I went for full Admiral, because I got bored one day and figured "What the heck?". There might come a day when ED introduces some game element that requires a CMDR to have full Admiral rank. Maybe the Panther Clipper will require full Admiral rank, or full KING rank, which I also have.

As another poster pointed out: It's good to be the King . . . o7

And the next time you get a parking ticket the Feds will blow you away, Admiral.

OP if I were U I would reccomend going to sothis/ceos to grind up the highest rank of "Admiral" in case they some day add stuff only the "Admiral" rank can have it doesnt take much time just a handful of "runs" between those 2 systems.

There is an old wise man's saying in Bulgarian Tryabva da go poluchite, predi da e stanalo tvŭrde kŭsno, za da go poluchite it means "get it now while you can get it" or something to that effect.

I spent 5 hours yesterday and went from Midshipman to Admiral.

It was fun and did it in a single gaming session. I don't think it was a grind at all. I was really working my role as an ambitious soldier doing whatever it took to rise in the ranks and it paid off. I did a ton of data missions, but also a large share of assassinations, and good portion of salvage missions.

I wasn't afraid to get my hands dirty, and I got noticed by someone with big-time pull with the higher-ups. Next thing I knew, I was getting promoted after every mission run. I guess I know how to follow orders and keep my mouth shut.

I just bought a Cutter and A rated it a few days ago, so a little short on credits to get the tricked out Corvette I've been eyeing. Soon!

If you do the 5 cross influence missions, rank is quick to gain.

Made Admiral recently but didn't actively grind for that rank or Vice.

As far as King, I'm tired of grinding, particularly with the new mat grind. Maybe after things settle down I'll go for Duke/Cutter.

I was Admiral and King before it was even a needed thing. I just played the game and the ranks came.

But needing to grind it up? No, don't bother unless you are ocd about it. It won't even get you placed first in a docking queue.

Knocked over the last two Fed & Empire ranks in a couple of hours each last week, it's easier than ever now you can choose non-financial/non-materials rewards for missions.

If only being Admiral meant anything except that you'd filled up another progress bar for absolutely no reason other than filling up a progress bar.

An Admiral takes home a substantial salary, makes strategic decisions on and has input into matters of urgent national security. An Admiral dines with others at similar points in the hierarchy, and reports directly to the highest levels of government.

What do we get?

A filled progress bar. Great.

No hurry here. If and when they offer anything else for the higher ranks, if I'm not there already, I'll grind then. It's only a game, after all. :) I'd rather get my butt back out into the "Big Deep" once again. Exploration is still my main pleasure in this silly game.
