Where is it "all happening" in ED right now?

Seems like there's always been something going on in ED which attracts players who want to do things aside from try to blow each other up.

There were crash sites where you could explore with other players, the Guardian Ruins sites which you could tour around and help each other out, the Thargoid bases which I spent a lot of time fooling around with other players and there were also the Generation Ships and Thargoid USS's where you could often find other players.

Starting to realise that I haven't really been doing much that was especially enjoyable recently.

Find a system, rank up with all the factions just for the hell of it.
Buy a new ship and engineer it just cos it's one I didn't already own.
Go find some mat's to go with the other 1000-odd I've already got.
Take some missions to earn some rare mat's.

I really need to find something interesting and enjoyable to get involved with. [sad]

I guess the new Guardian sites might be worth a look but I get the impression there's not much actually happening there and people are just zipping over there to collect the ingredients for their fancy toys.

I think you might be expecting too much of this game now.
It seems FD have increasingly focused it down into more on grind. Any fun is removed quicker than I ever remember.
Seems they may have forgotten this is a video game played fore relaxation and enjoyment.
Not sure where their mindset is at the moment.

^I think this is definitely worth it. Since 3.0 I've seen more commanders at ancient ruin and guardian sites than anywhere aside from CGs - and not just at the galnet ones, random sites. I'm going back ASAP - I didn't have any thargoid materials with me, so ASAP includes after figuring out how/where I can sort that out.

See, this is where I'm at right now.

I know I don't need to do it but, whenever I log on, I always seem to find myself thinking about going to Dav's Hope, going hunting HGEs or (at best) schlepping across to the new Guardian sites to grab some of that stuff.

It's all stuff that you do so you can get a ship ready to do "proper things" and I'm struggling to find any "proper things" to do right now.

When there's nothing else to get involved in, I've always been quite happy to just run one-way missions and see where that takes me but the mission-boards are currently saturated with wing-missions (even in Solo mode) to the detriment of variety in other mission types.

Try doing some kill pirate lord/terrorist/whatever missions. The elite ones give good rewards, and quite often the exploded corvettes drop G5 mats including pharms/military caps. Haven't gone HGE hunting in a while due to doing those and getting what I need from that.

I'm asking where I can find groups of other CMDRs congregating.

That really isn't up to me... unless you're suggesting that I should announce what I want to do and a bunch of other CMDRs will tag along.

If that's the part you take your samples from, then yes. Some of the new Guardian sites do require some bit of thargoid tissue, probes, sensors or links to decode them.

Good luck finding a landing spot for that Anaconda though!

A valid point.

I went and had a nose around the new sites in an AspX and it was hard enough trying to find somewhere to land that, at one of the sites in particular.

Course, we should always treat these archaeological wonders with the care and respect that they deserve.
