The New Ram Tah Mission Requirements

I'm giving up on this for now before even starting the mission proper.
The Research Limpets are bugged and don't work 90% of the time and I detest relogging as a method to look for something, and that is needed to find the different Thargoids at the moment.

FD really need to get a lot better at properly functionally testing their features, especially ones needed for new storyline elements.

I hate to admit but I gave up on the mission this weekend too.

Initially I had the same issue as above, went to Ram Tah to get the mission but of course it isn’t there, had to Google how to actually begin the thing, sigh. I did get started eventually though and I managed to unlock 14 data logs. Then I realized I needed Thargoid items too, so a bit more forum research and I went about filling my “shopping list”. For the life of me though I could not find a Basilisk anywhere. I poured through dozens of NHSS signals but not a single Basilisk to be found. Then I read that they seem to be missing from NHSS sources since 3.0? And then I logged in Sunday to find my Ram Tah mission is now not in my mission list anymore, it’s just gone.

I’ve spent so much time on this but the frustration has convinced me it’s not worth completing it now. I’ve left the mission (it actually left me) to do other things instead. I’ll just listen to all 28 logs in a youtube video while I eat dinner one night, I can pretend it’s just a GalNet article catching me up on known research, lol.

Having lost 3 limpets containing tissue samples, I discovered that in order to get them to work I had to leave my cargo bay doors closed. Only when "Limpet error, cargo hatch closed" is seen do you open the doors. That gets around the bug. It's worked for me 3/3 times.

EDIT: I originally saw this workaround on the canon site, but I misinterpreted its meaning to begin with. It does work though.

That's really concerning :-( I've just got the Basilisk left to get. I've been trying for a few nights now but I've realised the same as said in this thread, USS Threat 6 are bugged. I still have the mission so I might try tonight to get a basilisk from an attacked mega ship site.

That wasn't working for me.

What ship are you using? I was in a Cobra 3.. Not sure if the ship matters of if it's just luck... Certainly I was having no luck at all until I tried that.

A DBX - I had maybe 9 or 10 limpets come back to the ship with the hatch either open or closed with the same result - limpet disappears, no sample in the hold.
The one time that it was successful, was when I decided to move out of the way just before the limpet came back which made it overshoot.
I haven't replicated that because I then moved on to relogging at a megaship to get Basilisks or Medusae but they weren't staying around long enough to get a sample.

I detest relogging so I'm done with this even if I did want to try a different megaship - I'm moving on to do something that doesn't make we want to uninstall the game.

MdM is correct - it's random whether you need the doors open or closed. Also whether you should eb still or moving (slightly). Or maybe it's just random. Fire off multiple samples and you have more chance, but it is annoying until you become resigned to the RNG :)

... and then the mission vanishes for many, so you throw them away and start again later...

I might do the same if I get fed up tonight... Actually I might store all the stuff in the hold of a ship owned by my other user. I wonder if that'll get destroyed because it doesn't have anti-corrosive hold. Maybe that's ok so long as you're logged out..

No - you can get TS from crash sites, not TP AFAIK. TP RNG not too bad for NHSS2 (Ammonia World like planet 6 in IR-W where The Oracle is)

i have been around Pleiades Sector IR-W d1-55 6 but nothing is droping so far... but thanks.

First Salty Post Ever (no turning back)
Why, if the requirement to start the mission is to visit any installation other than Felice Dock (and Phoenix Base), did the Galnet story not mention that? A sentence like "visit my representative at XXX..." is all it would have taken. I'm all for mystery in the game, but real human beings don't announce vague requests for help while only agreeing to talk with you if you happen to visit the secret but correct neighbor who lives down the street.

I had the exact same experience and had to ask people in the PS4 section of the forums and wrote something extremely similar to you. I went to both Phoenix base and Felice Dock where the previous mission came from. I’m not sure what the benefit of moving the mission giving station to a station with a medium size pad was. You’d think by actually going to his base he would tell you there!

I assume there's no partial hand in at the Tech Broker and I need to have all the stuff with me at once? So for the CRCRs I need to have at least 70t of cargo space and acquire everything in one go. *sigh*

I'm doing it all with 16t of corrosive resistant space and 8t of normal... I agree though that it sucks you have to store all of the cargo at once though when it takes hours and hours to collect it all together and you can't go off and do something else in the mean time.

EDIT: May have misunderstood, since it sounds like you're talking about getting the cargo rack in the first place rather than the bit after which involves collecting the thargoid parts.

Getting the 16t CRCR was the easy part. Getting Basilisk and Medusa samples is becoming a nightmare for me!
