Yeah. Why? Because it makes fixed aiming really easy. Bet you've got some super high resolution mouse with a tonne of buttons too.
Using kb/m because you're a student on a laptop your parents bought for you and you can't afford anything else is one thing. Using kb/m because it's the meta is another.
I'm not interested in flying a spaceship with the same controls I use in minecraft, I want to use a HOTAS. Not because it's better, because it feels like what I should be flying a spaceship with. If I play some racing sim I use a wheel & pedals. If I want to play minecraft I use kb/m or a gamepad.
You have min/maxed your ship, you min/max your controller (if a gamepad was the meta you'd use one, right?). I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm saying it's hypocritical to mock others for min/maxing when the typical PvP warrior is so focused on getting the best dps possible they miss out on the rest of the game.
By all means play your own way, for whatever reason, but remember the fox with no tail
