I love gankers! I think it’s great to have some challenge in the game. Don’t want to die? Then build a good ship and fly it right. I’ve only lost ships when flying junk builds and making mistakes. It’s a game with ships and guns...get over it.

Balance. A ship built fer pve will never be able to go toe to toe with a ship built specifically fer pvp and wont be much use fer pve either. Same with pvp ships...they not much use fer pve.
Balance...it doesnt exist and that makes yer argument a moot point ^

This is wrong. As a matter of fact I streamed for a whole year using limpets, cargo space, SRV's. I broadcast my location and get stream sniped all the time. Ive only been killed by one guy in that whole years time. And then I became friends with him and they helped teach me the game even more.
You can set your ship up to "PVE" and escape when needed.
You're assuming you are expecting to last 25 minutes against another PVP fight and win. No, you dont have to do that. As a trader your side of the PVP is to outfit correctly Fly like HAN SOLO and make it to your destination. THATS A WIN!
If someone as dull and as dumb as I am can do it. So can the rest of you thats not streaming, thats not broadcasting their location.
The new Engineers make this even more available. Get out there and learn. Its okay to die in video games. As long as you guys are smart enough to learn from those mistakes. And if you're not. There are awesome groups like GCI that will teach you.
EDIT: OHHHH I just realized, the Solo and Private build. You know the one where you min max for Cargo. No shields for Max profit and jump range. Like powerplayers and BGSers do. Yeah that build wont fly in Open play. You're right. Good thing we have those modes!

This might come as a surprise but I already know Im an old troll...in all my time here Id say about two thirds of the people here have trolled someone else...sometimes intentionally and sometimes unintentionally in the way we communicate with each other. Its more like game banter than actual trolling because the definition of actual trolling is to provoke an adverse reaction...on a gaming forum we do this to each other literally every single day.
Using that defintion, almost all of us are trolls in one way or another...some are just better at it than others and most dont wanna admit they actually deep down enjoy it. Me I know exactly what I am...dont even try to hide it...thats why its water of a ducks back to me being called one...yer just telling me what I already know. I really...seriously really...dont...care...
That being said, theres a fine line between constructive and light hearted trolling, or banter if ye know the word as thats what we call it here in Ireland...and childishness which appears as churlish and arrogant. All it takes is one special snowflake to take offence and oh look squirrel...the thread goes down the slimy rabbit hole of despair.

PVP is an entirely optional minor facet of the game.
Nope there mad to think that, you can't attack other players in solo that's the point.
That's PVP all over though isn't it ?, least effective way of effecting the BGS so the only point is combat for the joy of combat.
PVP'ers keep telling me they need to min/max and grind to be competitive. I keep telling them to chill out.
True stuff remains true over time. If you want to influence the BGS you need to play the BGS.
You spam that a lot, he must have really hurt your feelings. Isn't that from before the 3.0 C&P changes which would seriously limit his chances of hanging around destroying authority ships. Needs an update to be relevant.

Have you considered not bothering with the BGS because you don't seem to like it. That's what PVE'ers do with PVP and it's very effective.
Get out there and run some missions for your faction.

A few things have changed since we last exchanged words...fer one thing I play in open only nowadays...and in the bubble too. I always knew how to survive and always could...not sure why ye think I didnt. I didnt avoid open because I couldnt git gud...I avoided it because of the toxicity that went with it...I really couldnt be bothered with it at all...thats why I played in solo fer two years...not fer the reasons you seem to assume.
I also dont do trade...of all the careers, trade is by far the most difficult fer me to reach elite in. Weird I know but there ye have it...Im doing combat atm...cos its merely next on the list of things to do. So as ye can see, a few things have indeed changed.
Past few weeks, many have tried to kill me...as yet none have succeeded...but the salt ye get fer staying one step ahead...I thought I had a foul mouth but those guys put me to shame...ye wouldnt believe the salt ye get cos ye wont stand and die...so easy to wind you guys up it really is...no challenge at all they literally already frothing at the mouth to get the insults out. Dd they sit and think of new insults through the day and use them when they play?
Thats the very toxicity I went to solo to avoid cos I got fed up listening to it...nowadays I just laugh at them which appears to make it worse...passively trolling perhaps?

I dont know you tell me? how many countless times have people been called psychopaths, go search the word griefer and ganker on the forums. Then go in and look at the comments. Did the words psychopaths, ats and so on get removed? Nope.
You know who catches the most crap. The guy that tells you to learn the game and to git gud. For some reason thats a bad thing. Cant seem to figure out why.
As far of the BGS stuff, Ive had my fill. Its a waste of time with no reward for a system you win. You fight for weeks against mindless NPC's Farming to no end. Hoping you can put in as much time as your invisible adversaries to over throw the numbers.
PvP is optional in this case and its really dulled down the game. And like I said above. Whats PVP for? Why are people asking for Meaningful PVP in a VIDEO GAME to begin with?
The whole system is screwed up.
Oh yeah and then there is this, I went to GCI to learn how to defend myself. So I could stream in open and enjoy PVP without combat loggers, Task killers, and salt addicts.

Its not the sub cancellation that bothered me. Its how they acted in the message and what they did after the fact.
Im not saying this to really attack anyone here. But some people in this community really needs to grow up. Most of us are adults. We have played games before. Ones that allow shooting one another. Just like Elite does.
And if you all cant handle getting shot at in a video game with other people. Then maybe Elite is not for you.(not you stig just the general guy that whines about it.)

It happens, some guys are just toxic. Its everywhere man. But in Elites case, its super toxic because there is no Definition for PVP. We should at least have a friendly duel sometime feel free to add me. Same name here as it is in the game.
But thats why I went to GCI, and soon San Tu when I get done Engineering. Id rather be around other PVPers that understand the game. Give a challenge. Dont combat log. Dont salt it up unless its friendly banter. Like I give someone like UnrealJay. We are playing to have fun. And when we try to play the game based around objectives. To be threatened with all sorts of things. Its not worth it. Just like you said.

I can assure ye that most of the damage was self inflicted...give a fool enough rope eventually they hang themselves. Yer also missing the point that theres a difference between banter and flat out trolling.
Cue the forums a few years back...'git gud or go back to minecraft noob' That was the typical reply on threads that complained about gankers and griefers in open. And lets not mention all those salt farming campaigns carried out by certain pvp groups...very public they were aimed at harvesting buckets of salt.
I can assure ye...most the pvp communitys problems are of their own making...a hard truth to admit but there it is. Now ye can man up and admit it or keep blaming everyone else and hotel california awaits. The longer ye deny that pvprs are at fault, the longer these issues will go on...and on...and on...

Dont let one bad apple spoil it for the whole bunch. There are tons of PVPers that are out there you have never heard of or seen. They are good people, they help teach the game. And arent toxic what so ever.
Remember all forums are echo chambers. This one just happens to side against PVPers. Reddit its the complete opposite.

Ill give ye that point about definition of pvp...thats on frontier because they didnt develope the role. Creating a sandpit and leaving it to the players...no thats not defining anything.
I would add ye actually but I dont use my pc account much these days and stick to console...just easier from my perspective and the pc is old...the xbone actually performs better than the antique. so theres that too. Yer not a bad sort and these war of words on a forum are just that...words. Ye dont know my background before elite but its mostly a pvp background, so I do understand where yer coming from if nothing else ^

This is why I harp on Objective based gameplay so much it would give PVP definition. With the BGS and Powerplay. Somethings gotta give here. What started out as an awesome idea. Dont get me wrong. But on the other side, its caused LOTS of major issues within the game. And it is Indeed on Fdev. They have to change something here. The community is tearing each other apart for no reason.
