It's a very pretty game, lucky enough to be able to run it fairly high res and get decent framerates, it's one of those games which come along once in a while that takes you part the tipping point of getting that new system or gfx card you've been planning to buy. The audio really is top notch too, I was sitting in a ruins site yesterday hearing all this weird radio type chatter, quite spooky and very well done. The ship sounds (apart from the aspx which sounds like a giant desk fan / steam train) that I have heard are inspired. The way the eagle sings like it's loving flying about so fast is wonderful.

but you know what... i thought that when i 1st saw the interior of the Coriolis and to be honest it was pretty damn close.
if they can get 75% of the way to that concept art i will be happy.
i am curently trying to buy a 65inch 4K TV (when i can find stock of the damn thing, they are like hens teeth) but the game looks so good in VR
dont get me wrong, i will still be playing it in VR, but i look forward to seeing the eyecandy at 4k too.
i can only manage VR medium - with a few tweaks to high in places - on my gtx 980 however.

One of the joys about really taking gaming seriously as a hobby is upgrading your PC to high end for the first time. The difference in settings on games is stark.
I did mine 2 years ago, cost me a small fortune but so worth it. I still have my stock monitor that came with the old PC and so upgrading that next to a 2k monitor is next on my list, and I expect that will make me go "Wow" once more!

Sure, but the game is in ongoing development. What I posted was a specific art goal target to try and reach in Q4 according to Frontier. But yeah, we'll see though, of course.

I really wish i had any faith left... but sooo many years... and still no orrery... although over 3 years ago they were supposedly almost done with it... the only issue seemed to be the comet`s (https://i.imgflip.com/26axfw.jpg) tail facing the wrong way

I don't think they're in the same ballpark in terms of concept art and the way they were presented. I'm not disagreeing with your premise, just how Frontier presented these images.
I suspect that they've been digging around in the Cobra Engine to make some improvements for Q4.
A year ago I thought about upgrading my 980 for a 1080. But I didn't quite have the money and I figure, as usual these cards will go down in price.

At least I got an Ultrawide monitor and more memory. But thanks to crypto-miners any graphics card update is probably a long way off. And I doubt NVIDIA has much motivation to produce their next gen cards for a while.
Still, looks good with the 980, but I can't get the supersampling as high as I'd like. If any game cried out for better anti-aliasing, it's ED. I hope they are looking in to this for later this year.

Yeah Marc, I went from an absolute potato to a gaming system that plays the entire game in ultra. It's gorgeous.
