'Legal Issues' after paying 600cr bounty for a tresspass/scan?

So, in solo, SRV scanning for mats in Timbalderis. Come across a private data point defended by skimmers and defence turrents. I go ahead and scan anyway. 600cr bounty for trespass/scan. No problem, avoid missiles etc and head back to my Clipper.

I pay off bounty at an IF 30LY away (as only the planetary bases in Timbalderis were available and I couldn't be bothered to take off/land 2300LS away).

I think no more of it. I get to Shinrarta, go to change a module over and see that all my modules are still showing as having 'legal issues' where I am now expected to pay to have each module cleaned? For a 600cr bounty?

6a power plant alone is 648,000cr.

Were these meant to have been 'cleaned' automatically after paying off the bounty? Did the system expect me to pay the bounty off at one of the available planetary bases in Timbalderis and not the IF?

Edit: never mind. The bounty is still showing in my transactions tab even though I confirmed payment at the Interstellar Factors. This is just another can't pay bounty at IF. Mods: please just delete, or add this to the ever growing merged bug report thread instead. Thanks.

I'd submit a bug report about that if I were you.

As far as I am aware, once you clean a ship by paying off the bounty at an IF (and you cannot pay off bounties locally, only through IF) then the modules should be clean too.

If however you store a module before you clean the ship by paying off the bounty, then that module remains dirty / wanted. There's a thread about this subject here including some responses from QA, probably worth a look.

I agree! Bug Report time! When the Bounty is cleared, the ship's modules should also be cleared. I have read other reports of this same issue from other players, so you are not the first to run into this.

Yeh thanks folks.

As per edit in post, it only looked like the IF had allowed me to clear the bounty, i.e. I clicked the Confirm button to pay it and the outstanding bounty disappeared from the IF screen. It is however still in my transactions tab and won't go away. There's already thread about that I found a bit earlier. Will search for it again and add to it.

Errr actually the module cleaning is by design, I think...

You have a bounty for 600Cr and its attached to the ship, you pay that off that means the ship is clean.

But modules are tagged as hot and can now only stay with that ship (the issue appears to be if this "hotness" is retained after a bounty is paid off).

So as long as you diont swap modules on a ship that was hot in the past you wont pay the cleaning fee (5% of its value), but it appears that regardless of bounty being cleared on ship the module retains its hotness and has to be further cleaned regardless.

From 3.0 Patch note...

  • Players can store hot modules (modules applied to a ship at the time a crime is committed)

Ed's Features of 3.0 post...
Hot Ships and Modules

• A ship with bounties on it is hot.
• A hot ship cannot be transferred to a port in a jurisdiction where the hot ship is wanted.
o Elsewhere - ship transfer costs are increased for the hot ship.
• Modules taken from a hot ship are hot modules.
• Hot ships can be cleaned of bounties and fines using Interstellar Factors.
• Hot modules can be cleaned in storage for a price based on the module's value.
• Hot modules cannot be placed in a clean ship.
• Hot ships and modules can be sold at a mark down.

I have underlined the item which means that it appears that cleaning a ship does not clean modules.... this may be an unexpected feature of the C&P implementation.

Modules are only supposed to be hot when removed from the hot ship

Yes, that's how I understood it. Cleaning the ship cleans the modules too, but if you don't clean the ship before storing those modules, the modules remain hot and can only be transferred back to a ship (and I think that's any ship, including the hot one) if they are first cleaned by paying the cleaning cost.

Hey Kubold,

Thanks for your report - Unfortunately this is intended gameplay and is a result of unfortunate timings.

So you were awarded a bounty which makes your ship 'hot'. If you went directly and paid this off, your total expenses would be the 800cr bounty. Due to you outfitting your 'conda for a sightseeing tour, you stored a load of modules. As you hadn't paid off your bounty, your ship was still 'hot' - this includes your modules. When you transfered them from your ship to the stations storage they're flagged as 'hot modules' due to coming from a 'hot' ship.

To retrieve these, you are charged a fraction of their value to have them cleaned of the 'hot' status and putting back on your ship.

I do understand your frustration caused by this as it isn't crystal clear what happened to cause these fees/how you got there/how to avoid this. I have raised this and have passed it on for consideration!

Fly safe out there Cmdr! o7
