What happened to all the griefers and gankers?

Isn't "PeLucheuh" Comanche for "He who sees with sharp eyes while also running with smiling dogs" ?

I don't even know how to pronounce it.

Sometimes I say "Palooka", like "That big palooka, over there."
Sometimes I say Peloochoo... because it's funny sounding.

It was meant to sound condescending.
When I was a kid, I played a lot of Chess. That's a game that insists that both players start on equal terms.
What you guys seem to be suggesting, and certainly what I've experienced in the last two weeks has been players insisting on most definitely UNEQUAL terms for combat.

Let me put it another way. Imagine you're a group of fit 21 year olds. Do you go down to the local park and play football with a bunch of 10 year olds, because that's the equivalent of what is happening when optimised PvP ships take on cargo ships and similar.

I'll say it AGAIN. I think the game should have PvP. However, I don't understand why it has dissolved into the level of griefing of weaker ships. Just comes across as rather pathetic.

As suggested in this thread, why no get into deliberate combat where at least there's a level of danger?

Plenty of PvPers engage in combat on equal terms. That's happening all day every day at San Tu. But sometimes its fun to shoot clay pigeons, too, ya know? Pull!

His name is kind of tough. I call him Princess PeePee. Not to his face, obviously.

Imagine you are the ten year old. You see the big boys playing on a pitch. Next to it there is an empty pitch and a one with other ten year olds.

Which pitch do you run on to?

Cargo and combat ships use the exact same defensive modules and mods in this game. So when you say "optimized PvP ships" what you really mean is "ships equipped for offense". And it seems that you are arguing with the false narrative that if Player A has an FDL, Player B who does not is incapable of playing the game.

Now, short of shield cell banks, I run just about the same defensive modules on all of my ships, and all of my ships are generally "PvP" capable at any given time. Keep in mind, however, that "PvP" capable does not mean that my AspX is going to go toe-to-toe with a PvP FDL and live to tell the tale. It simply means that the ship is generally capable of surviving a normal PvP encounter either through direct combat or evasion. It is a combination of outfitting, modding, and skill.

As for your 20 year-olds vs 10 year-olds point, it's cute, but it only poses the question to one side of the equation, and is dishonest. In the same vein, why would a bunch of 10 yearl-olds seek out bigger and stronger 21 year-olds to play football with? Because depending on your perspective, that's exactly what's happening every time a shieldless T-6 wanders into the trade CG.

Isn't "PeLucheuh" Comanche for "He who sees with sharp eyes while also running with smiling dogs" ?

No idea. My Comanche isn’t 3.0’d yet.

Speaking of, has anyone seen a language trader yet?

We should ask Elizabeth Warren.

Pocahontas!

Thank you for your comments guys.

If it can help, you should pronounce it : pelush

But "Palooka", "Peloochoo", "Princess PeePee" or "Baguette" is OK as well.

I forget about the pitches for a moment and think logically - which kill order gives me the maximum element of surprise vs the remaining children?

That was very well-said... rational and reasonable.

You should all listen to PeLucheuh, though I know you will choose not to.

Except he forgot the 'SDC takes a flexible stance on combat logging when they do it, plus were caught cheating and like to dumbfire into explorer or beginner hotspots' part. ;)

lol - none of that is the point though. The point is that by logging into open you don't get to pick and choose which game mechanics apply to you. You have to just take the good and the bad the come along with the experience.

Actually, you dont. You can just block people. Which ironically is something the same people who like to claim 'you can do everything as long as it is within the rules' then go berserk about. Its that weird "its Open, I can be as big a bunghole as I want! But you all have to be nice about it, and dont block me because that is mean and exploiting a game function!" double-think. I agree with your general point, dont get me wrong, but when SDC is part of the discussion one should provide a bit of context before bringing the 'its open, just follow the rules and do as you please!' mantra. :)

Is it okay with you that I say 'I choose you Peloochoo' in my head every single time I see a post of yours?

So basically you're saying that traders might aswell stop playing in Open. Yes?

How is it that the other thread I opened to talk about using an anarchy system for more regular PvP has gone nowhere?
Do I interpret that as you guys saying that you really have sod all intention to try to fight on "fair terms". Then you wonder why griefers get a bad name.

Maybe, and this is just a theory mind you, it's because PvPers have already established one such in San Tu and are rolling their eyes at your patronizing attempt at assuming originality? Maybe yes? Maybe no?

So fed up of getting blown away while just minding my own business so I decided to do a reverse grief.

I brought a stock Sidewinder, out fitted it with an FSD and better thrusters and went looking for griefers. I did not have to wait long, got interdicted buy an FDL, part of a 3 wing the other ships being a cutter and a clipper. Well got killed instantly.

What was the point of that?

According to the new crime and punishment rules a powerful ship that kills a clean inferior ship- Sidewinder being the smallest will get hit with a huge bounty.

My rebuy was half thanks to the new notoriety system.

Went straight out again and looked for the gang.

Interdicted the FDL, he did not want to engage me and kept running.

I kept interdicting him, rammed him and died.

Kept doing this to him and his mates, imagine the scene of an Elite status Cutter fleeing from a stock Sidewinder.

Kept it up for hours, some other players winged up with me and in the end the gang gave up coming to the system. Haven't had so much fun in ages.

After a while kept getting message that they 'deactivated datalinks' would that make a difference?

Really got to them, they started messaging me but I could not read any of it, as it was blocked out for some reason, one word came through which was 'pidor' According to google its an insult in Russian, I just messaged back 'lol'.

Griefers don't like being griefed it seems.

There I was spending hours and hours grinding for a ship then grinding for all the engineering resources while all I needed for revenge was almost a stock Sidewinder, don't know how I feel about that to tell truth.

I need to get back to it - problem is whenever I have a chance I'm always playing and having fun. I'll clean it up and post an update.
(Oh, I thought you were talking about... nevermind. Anyway, the PvP community already has an Anarchy hub where they play pitched combat games. San Tu. I think there are others, too that a lot of scrubs and wannabes hang out at ) :p

And when did I ever say that about traders? I trade in open all the time, as do others, and my trading ships are plenty strong enough to survive your standard PvP encounter.

Does that mean that any of them are going to survive a top-tier full-wing gank? No. But the chances of running into that are extremely unlikely outside of hotspots. And even in hotspots you still have a good chance of surviving if you fly like you know what you're doing.
