Open play trolls

"True griefimg"? Killing by itself is not harassment. Frontier has said this many times. Beyond this Frontier has said it's all about "context". So "harassment" is currently and unfortunately vaguely defined. The only thing Frontier are 100% clear on however is that verbal abuse is unacceptable.

It should also be noted that killing in game is being addressed by Frontier's game mechanics. So the degree to which repeated killing is considered "harassment" is already penalized with bounties, harsh police response, and added Rebuy fees. If you're looking for punishment for in game actions that goes beyond the scope of mechanics, then you risk becoming the harasser rather the harassee. That is the line in the sand. Keep it in game, keep it clean, snd you're in the in the clear.

There's always block if anyone feels the need to remove an irritant. I get rid of the station rammers that way.

If someone manages to kill me, that's someone who is going immediately on my friends list. How else can I return the favor if I never see them again?

That's nice, it's got nothing to do with the block function or why I suggested it though.

You were talking about verbal abuse in game, if it bothers you just block them. Like getting blown up it doesn't bother me, I just find it funny.

You were also saying people are unreasonably demanding harsher punishments from FDEV for some things people do in game that arguably go beyond the scope of the game itself. Now on the one hand I can see where you are coming from, it's just a game and it's no big deal. At the same time there's no way I'm ever willingly going to play the game with cheats or people who are just out to annoy like the station rammers, so I block them.

I think blocks great because the only threshold of naughtiness or level of proof required is whatever you as the player think is sufficient. It's perfect all MMO's need a similar function.

Blocking people means that it will be harder to instance with them. If that happens, I can't destroy their ship can I? I prefer to deal with in game issues via in game mechanics. And the most satisfying way to "mute" someone in game is to send them to a Rebuy screen. That goes for station rammers as well. Just take a big hull ship, stay under 100 m/s and send them to the Rebuy. Problem solved.

Verbal abuse in the comms like Dingo's pic is what real griefing is. Watch and learn for once in your SOLO life. This is is griefing!
Not being killed in a space ship or rammed near a station or put into a sidewinder.

Typing death wishes in RL over the comms is one of the few ways to grief.
Other ways would include homophobic or racial slur.

Hey, Stigbob, that was cool seeing you on the same map. About the time you were being griefed by the evil trolls, I got focused by a couple FdL's and after scrapping for a few minutes, barely made it back to the pad. Then, I took off to come find you and ended up getting dog piled again by three ships and ended up back in Gernhardt haha. Those darn trolls make me so mad grrrrrr!

Blocking people screws up instancing for anyone at the same location. It's a stupid way to hide. FDev needs to fix it, or remove it.

Interesting didn't know that. Not sure how this could be verified especially given the number geographic challenges that impact instancing.

Only if you're trying to instance with someone in a wing with a blocked player I think. However, I don't block people.

Mine is flawless 90%

I know they are allowed to do it. But I disagree with random killings that have no goal because it scares the player base away from open play. This is why I think SDC is idiots. They whine about private groups and people going into solo because "it splits the community and depopulates open" BUT they also go out of their way to kill people for zero reason such as parked explorers. Well if I want to do a exploration event BUT I don't want it getting griefed, than I guess I need private group. They create the very problem they complain about. This is coming from a PvPer btw.

No, it affects people not blocking or blocked or trying to wing with either type.

Find a busy CG and block someone there. Go to system and watch half of the folks in open disconnect.
