Guardian Tech

That is because Inara is not just showing you Guardian Tech Broker stuff.

To be exact, you are seeing details from both the Guardian Tech Broker, and the Human Tech Broker.

To find the other stuff. Look for a Human Tech Broker.

Is guardian tech of any use against human ships or is it only used for attacking Thargoids... If only Thargoids, I don't think I'm interested.

The Guardian Plasma Chargers are useful against human ships. Slipped two on an ICourier. They make Eagles pop in a few shots and dropped the first ring of a Pythons shields PVE.
I tried them PVP and they work, can't report much more detail ad the one Cmdr I tested them against was flying reverski with long range lasers (I got bored and left the fight). Will test again another time: my current play time is spent praying to RNGesus for HGE'S...

Guardian tech is entirely capable of being used against humans.

Most of the human tech is not targeted towards Thargoids. But some of it is. The enzyme missiles specifically state they have no use against Thargoids as it is just too weak even against thousand year old Thargoid wrecks.

The plasma charger is TONS of fun against npc's for bounty hunting in my own opinion.

The gauss cannon is not in my own opinion that fun to use against small squirrly ships because it charges up and shoots as you hold the trigger. So if you are not on target when it finishes charging. You need to let go before charging finishes or waste the shot.
The plasma charger works the opposite, charging up and only firing when released. Or you can shoot with out charging but it does a lot less damage.

The power plant provides enough power to compare to a grade 4/5 overcharged power plant. It has a higher thermal penalty. It costs more than the standard power plant. Currently, we can not engineer these. But some time down the road we may be able to.

For a quick build, this saves doing the engineering.

The turreted plasma charger is only of use for multi crew game play. Otherwise they opperate as a fixed weapon with lower damage and higher cost per turreted designs.

The Guardian weapons are effective against human ships but an engineered Human Equivilent works better against human targets, from what I hear.

Thanks for the info. Repped.

So they are primarily aimed at being anti-Thargoid weaponry. Sigh.

I personally would say that there are give and take situations here versus alternative engineered weapons.

First off, none of the plasma accelerators have a multiplier for damage. Second, the visual effect of the guardian plasma charger is just FUN FUN FUN. They are only available as a class 2 size weapon.

A highly engineered Plasma accelerator will take a big chunk of the distributor to fire. The guardian plasma charger does not.

Yes, these are great against Thargoids. But they are not bad against npc's at all. So, if your looking for a PVP weight option. This is probably not the one. The enzyme missiles on the other hand essentially do a lower version of the Thargoid hull damage if you can hit a shieldless ship with one.

The fact that plasma chargers fire high damage shots when the trigger is released had some interesting side effects:
It doesn't cook a small ship. Thermal load increase is negligible if charged and returns to normal while charging.
Releasing the button to fire makes them easy fixed weapons to use as you see the target reticule and release and hit more reliably.
SLIGHT downside is full weapon capacitor drain on charge but that refills while holding the button.
I'll modify my lightweight cannon on the third HP to long range for when shields pop on bigger targets.
Also the projectile velocity is higher than standard PA's so damage fall-off is improved.
I'm looking forward to being able to engineer them!

Question re caustic missiles: dumb fire only or are seekers available?

Hi,

Re: Caustic Missiles, do you mean the Enzyme Missile Rack?

If so where do you find those, please?

** Amended **

Sorry, I missed the post regarding a Human Tech Broker, I'll check there.

Thanks for the tip.
