x52 Pro Mode select dial

There is a mode select dial on the joystick. Changes the buttons so each button on the stick can do three things depending on the mode. Is this planned to be implemented?

I'm testing something out. Maybe there is a way around this as you can map a keypress to each of the triggers. Might be a work around.

There is nothing to be implemented. You use the x52 program and set stick and throttle buttons to keys, different modes make the buttons do different keys. It has nothing to do with the game, have you never used a joystick? You set it up manually.

i use it for 3 different options

Red - deploy guns, make buttons relevant to shooting and power to weapons and shields
Middle - hide guns, make the pinkie the supercruise button and the fire button the target button
Blue - lower landing gear, all power to shields (leaving this mode retracts the landing gear

Sounds like you want Voice Attack... I believe it can do macros, so just make three
- "Combat mode" deploys weapons and assigns power to shields & guns
- "Cruise mode" raises gear, turn off lights, balances power, retracts guns
- "Docking mode" lowers gear, assigns power to shields, turns on ship's lights

The mode switch on the X52/Pro changes key assignments, it doesn't send commands to the game.

I've configured something for this very simply, in the Saitek profile editor - outside of ED. Just to try it.

In RED or middle mode, my 'boost' button is mapped to TAB (boost).

In BLUE mode, my 'boost' button is mapped to nothing.

So... a very simple "safe docking" mode for me.

Really? Is there any need for bitchiness? No I am not familiar with this joystick as I have not had it that long and been playing with the default settings. I have gone in game and tried to map different things to the same trigger with different modes selected and it does not work, which Is why I started playing around with the binding software from Mad Catz but there is no documentation and it's taking me a while to learn the ins and outs.

The dail works only when configured from within the Saitek software itself.
I'm currently creating such a profile for the X55, it's a bit of work, as you have to configure it outside Elite, jump back in and see if it works out as planned.

I put Elite in Generic joystick mode, wrote down the keybindings, and set the stuff up in de Saitek software.

Reason for going this (long) way? I want mode 2 (or 3) to be a 'Landing' profile. Boost not bound to any of the buttons ;)

Think this is a great idea and will be trying it out. Already ran out for buttons hat switches on one profile.

Do have a question for the people that have used the profiler.

Can you change the LED colour of the buttons based on your presses?
IE you deploy the landing gear with toggle T1/T2 and it changes from Green to Red, then goes back to Green when you press it again?

AFAIK, no, you cannot make the switches/buttons change colors based on in-game state. The most you can do is just changing the default LED colors. In the case of landing gear though, the UI has a state indicator so just use that.

I have voice attack as well, but as the button was going spare - I use it!

Also - using the mode button on the rotary means that I can change the behaviour of the other buttons:

In combat mode, fire1 and the pinkie are fire 1 and 2. The button under the safe thing is a tertiary fire, the 2nd hat on the right selects enemy targets

In flight mode, the pinkie becomes by supercruise button, the fire button is for targeting, and the others do things like in game comms.

In landing mode, the fire button is disabled, as is boost.

There are also pips changes in each mode as well.

Can't really do that with VoiceAttack

How is this done?
Can you do it with the default software?
