Didn't anyone read the Daily Mail? It's that huge solar flare they were going on and on about with doomsday crap. That's what caused it, I'm now sure the DM was actually correct about something...

every other game i have loads just fine... its localized to Frontier...

I was logged into the game and it was working fine, then I logged out and never could get back in. The launcher wouldn't even load correctly from Steam; wrong overlay, wouldn't recognize password.
