This should make quite a lot of people happy!

No. Whether YOU are clean or wanted is neither here nor there, the thing is the status of a target. If you shoot a wanted ship BEFORE you identify them as a criminal, you will NO LONGER get a bounty of your own. If however, it turns out that they are CLEAN, then nothing has changed, you will get teh bounty as before.

The main reasoning for this is if you are in a CZ and you see a gunship opening fire on a clean Viper, it is OBVIOUS that the FGS is wanted. Now you can open fire from a distance 'knowing' that, without fear of reprisal.

Thanks. That is good, if true.

I was confused by the preface to the statement: "........ when you are wanted in a jurisdiction, your ship automatically deactivates the system authority link to prevent your crimes from being detected......."

When you say CZ, did you mean RES? I thought in a CZ there were no crimes, just mayhem if you shoot the wrong side.

Can't rep, but quoting for good explanation of change.

Hello Commander operant!

Read it again, you're wrong... Actually no, you're not, I've just edited the line to make it work.

It was a typo on my part, sorry.

What I meant to say was "when you're wanted in a jurisdiction, your ship automatically deactivates the system authority link to prevent crimes committed against you from being detected/reported."

People complained about this for ages and being the fanboy that I am I always told them to scan their targets first. Now that it gets changed it's obviously the right way to go and we should all be thankful that FDEV listens to the critical part of our community... :D
Being a proper white knight is certainly schizophrenic at times ;)

Only problem was... if you had a KWS with fast scan, you'd often scan and find the ship "wanted", but still 8 or so seconds to go for the normal scanner to finish. As seeing as the ship was part of a wanted wing (I've never seen a wing where not all the ships were wanted, or all the ships were clean).

Z..

Have you considered a career in law enforcement in the US? I feel you would be ideal!

j/k guys, don't get all funny with me, I know police are just regular Joes doing a HARD job, i'm just in a funny mood this morning. :)

No need to join the US law enforcement these days for an action-packed lifestyle like that. If you're the sort of bald-headed semmit-wearing tough guy who likes crawling through airducts and blasting baddies before any questions are asked, then the career for you is American Schoolteacher.

Thanks. So nothing to do with me getting away with failing to scan a wanted ship before shooting. The new mechanism just prevents the cops turning up if you are already wanted and someone fires on you.

EDIT: no got it. The ship would be wanted so no report to the cops, so no response, which hopefully means also no crime committed. (My day for being confused. In this case by the use of the personal pronoun. I guess all wanted ships, npc or otherwise, automatically deactivate the security link.)

Yes I meant RES, thanks for pointing it out. One multi target melee is as good as the next as far as I'm concenred, I often mix up the two!!

Post of the year so far. You've even given me the idea to do a fake tv ad using army footage and at the end 'Be the best you can be, be a schoolteacher!'

Such an advert could attract more schoolteachers "No Tommy! I swear it was an accident. I didn't shoot you in the leg because you didn't know the capital of Botswana" <grin>

When i am wanted there are no crimes against me - as every player can simply shoot me down without being a criminal.... I am confused.... When i am clean i can automatically call the police when someone shoots at me. But if i am already wanted, than I AM a criminal. Did the system currently call the police even if i am wanted and someone attacks me?

Ciao, Udo

Little things like this go a long way.

Now if only we could get things like, no XP penalty for using a crewmember for combat....

Yes, I think Sandro positing the original situation from the point of view of a commander (sic: A player) was confusing. If it said 'A ship', rather than 'you', it would have been easier to make sense of in the first instance.

If you are wanted, and someone attacks you without scanning, then yes, police is involved.

I thought I understood this until Sandro’s last comment. But that seemed to say the opposite of the original. I guess it’s too early for me. Need coffee.

That's very good news
How many times have you shot a target when you meant to scan it because you had the wrong fire-group selected!!! - i did that again last night :(

Have a coffee, then read it again, substituting the word 'you' with 'a ship'. It makes better sense that way.
