I can't stop laughing at the thought of this.
While we're thinking of crazy ship modifications - Shrink the Clipper so it can use a full set of fixed weapons.
But it is a cargo ship?
With perfect zero error tracking as well?
Yep, a 0 jitter turret mount with an 8k range.

Actually originally it was a military support and patrol ship
No SLF for the Python. It's a fighter as much as most other ships half it's size. It doesn't need another fighter. Once upon a time it had a killer turn speed however now it's just marginal, but the right pilot can make it work.

Best ship in the game in my opinion. Having popped a few slf's in my python, i wouldnt want to give up the slot to equip one. So my vote is no too.
As a dedicated fan of the Python I also have to vote No.
It's a great ship.. maybe too great. Adding an SLF as well is just too much for one ship to have.
As others have said, it would have to come with a sacrifice somewhere else, something like being changed to a Large class ship or downgrading the Distributor. Those are all changes I would not be willing to make.
Personally, I don't think any Medium ship should be able to launch fighters, that should be exclusive to the 'big boys,' but that's just personal opinion.

In Fact ,, any ship with a class 5 slot can fit an SLF, if you have one that is, certain ships are not allowed to install an SLF purchased, but if you have one already purchased for another ship, a gunboat, for example, you can trade it to any class 5 slot, just have to adjust your power needs as well. I have done this several times with my class 5 slotted ships.
No. Pythons are great as they are.
It's already great.
Giving it an SLF will make it overpowered.
I love my Python, and I'd love an SLF, but I'm not willing to take a nerf to it elsewhere to get one.

Have never really understood why the forums are generally opposed to the idea. I guess I don't use fighters enough, What huge advantage do they bring in PvP and PvE?
I have fighters installed on all my large multipurpose/mining/freighters ships, however they are not necessary at all for PvE, and I have not used them for PvP, essentially they are just a nice toy to have on-board a ship. I might use them to distract an enemy or if I want to drop into a RES or COMP nav Beacon to spice up a trade run.
Just struggling to see how they would make the Python OP? personally I'd take the cargo space on a Python over a fighter, you pretty much need all cargo racks to make the Python a half decent pure freighter, would maybe install a fighter on a multi purpose build.
