Corvettes and Cutters are now Super easy to get.

what do you guys think?
I think that, since I'm giving up potentially a lot of credits in exchange for rep, you'd better believe that I'd want the ranking to go up more quickly than it used to. That's basically the entire point of the reward choices.

But hey, thanks for contributing to the noise that will see these reward choices nerfed and thus make it pointless to choose the non-credit options..

Oh look! Another CMDR who went to Shinrarta the home of Elite CMDRs and saw lots of big ships and now feels they're thing is smaller than everyone elses.

exactly. this seems to happen with almost every QoL change i can think of. any improvement at all is hit with the "press button to win" / "easymode" complaints and smack goes the hammer.

if you ask me, "hey this took me 3 months to 2 years" to bypass an utterly arbitrary gate on ships as some sort of good thing or badge of honour is ridiculous. the ranks don't get you anything at all other than access to some systems that are basically the same as all the others, and nobody is handing out the 200 odd million credits to be able to BUY a cutter when we rank up, much less fit the thing out.

it took me about 5 hours of mindlessly flying from one system to another and back again to get the cutter rank and that's more than enough for me. it's a terrible system that feels like an abandoned placeholder and if the people complaining about seeing six cutters with people who have no idea how to use them are so annoyed by it, then they should go blow the things up and they may be fortunate enough to cost them the ship AND the rebuy - and they can once again be that special someone with a rank locked ship. for whatever worth that is.

i honestly have no idea why of all the voices here, on reddit, and everywhere else, the devs consistently listen to an apparent handful that insist on trying to revert the game to something approaching what it was several versions back.

You got it backwards. It's the people with the big ships who are complaining that everyone else gets one too

This forum really does complain about everything. For years we've been complaining about the insane rank grind. For a couple weeks it's gone, and now this.

It's true.

It's true too.

Look guys: just play your own game. Looking over the garden fence at what others have will never ever make you happy.

Hello dear Forumplayers.

Now im a not so proud Corvette owner... it doesnt feel like i earned it properly, remembering how much work went into the Cutter.

Have a good Day.

You can always go back to the usual grind if getting 1 data wake exception an hour makes you feel accomplished...

Oh you’ve noticed.
Never happy, my exploits were harder, don’t deserve a big ship, no combat rank, only I deserve a Corvette, and on and on.
This place is like the hangout for neurotic gamers.

Old way, make enough money to buy Python. Do delivery missions and donate all the money. New way do missions for max rank.

No real change, except they took out the middle man of making money to donate it.

I got the 'vette and cutter the hard way with my primary account.

It was a bad system. It encouraged players to find exploitative ways to earn rank, as you would never earn enough rank playing normally.

In my second account, I'm trying to quickly earn the two ships as fast as possible with little compunction.

Hello dear Forumplayers.

So yesterday morning i was up early (7am) and logged into the Game. Sitting in Shinrarta, i saw 7 Corvettes, 1 Cutter and one Chieftain in the List of Commanders.... wait.. 7 Corvettes? Wasnt that a special and Rare ship once?
I went investigating why everyone has a Corvette now... found a Youtubevideo that showed how to get ranks fast with the latest Beyond Update..... well holy Sh*t.
I farmed weeks or more like months to get my Cutter back in the Day, and now i was able to reach Rear Admiral within one single Morning by just picking the reputation reward on every data delivery mission.

Now im a not so proud Corvette owner... it doesnt feel like i earned it properly, remembering how much work went into the Cutter.

I think F-dev fails to find a middle ground. First it was to much grinding or to much work, now it is way to fast. What do you Guys think?

Have a good Day.

Hmmm yes, it's disturbing meeting "mostly harmless" Corvettes.
I don't like it. That's everything. But i better close my eyes.

There is actually an exploit out there to gain rank which I've never even once seen mentioned on these forums. It's the true definition of exploiting too, always wondered why it isn't mentioned more often...

The rank lock would be fine though if it had tailored missions for it, but that doesn't feel like it's ever going to happen.

I can't remember how many 1000's of data transfers I did to get rank for the cutter. Then I waited almost a year before doing it all over again for the Corvette. I watched a lot of TV shows during those grinds...

Got my Vette and Cutter the old way on my PC and have taken advantage of 3.0 to get them unlocked on my PS4 account - I'm so happy I didn't have to do the old grind on them.

sure it needs balancing but it doesn't need to be as horrible as the old grind either, somewhere in between would be good

I focussed on rank from the outset, and I earned my Cutter last summer through the first Ram Tah mission, which took some serious effort (but was a lot of fun, especially in a group). It's taken a year to get it upgraded and I still have some way to go.

That you're seeing players with big ships at Shin doesn't really say very much; this game is around 4 years old now, and that's the 'endgame' hangout.

I have to agree took me 2 yrs nearly to gain the cutter now since new nerf i have now got the corvette in less than 2 days.

This game went from zero to nero just to please the kids.

People forget that the maintenance costs on the Cutter are outrageous, and anyone who obtains that ship before they are a Billionaire is going to eventually go broke keeping its integrity in check. Not to mention the ReBuy costs for either the Cutter or the Corvette.

Huh? What so you mean? Those times are long gone. I have no numbers but the costs are not a problem. And you have to do something seriously wrong seeing the rebuy screen in these ships. Unless ... PvP pewpew ...

Oh you've noticed ;)

And I might as well say this again: REMOVE THE RANK GRIND!
if you dont like it, youre BOTH more then welcome to get the F out

whats the point of mentioning something that doesnt matter with the way FDev F'd up the ranking any ways duh
