Dav's Hope - Still down at 10:50 GMT today 16th March

What would you like to make it more immersive?

Maybe "immersive" is the wrong word...a couple of things I would like along these lines:

- more in-game information on where to find non-planetary materials. This info would be viewed from the material/data selections (there is info there now, but it is woefully insufficient) I'd like data that is similar to what you find in google docs online (fed system, in boom, deep space, etc.)
- once rough info is given, have it direct you toward some type of mission or specific activity. Could be mining, bounty hunting, mission running, trade.
- For the activity, limit rng aspect...you do the activity, you get the material.
- flying around blindly in supercruise is not an activity, at least from my point of view.

Someone mentioned heat-maps on planets to find planetary materials. That would be fantastic. Could require specific types of scanners to improve results also, like mining prospectors.

I don't mind working for it. I just prefer having to rely ONLY on in-game resources, and once determined have it relatively straightforward to achieve (not easy, just clear). Having to view a google doc is not ideal because how else would you know material "X" is only found in imperial famine systems in deep space, etc?

I've never played Shadow of the Collosus.

You've missed out it's a cracker. Would strongly recommend.

I'd agree with all of that tbh, though of course if a number of possible mats could be dropped then there still would be some randomisation.

I do get the impression you're meant to try and find things for yourself rather than follow other's instructions on Google Docs. You're certainly not meant to be "flying around blindly in supercruise" - you're meant to find loot while doing other things which tend to involve flying around in supercruise hence giving you the opportunity to come across the mats.

Either way it's all a lot more reasonable than demanding bugs and exploits aren't fixed.

Yeah, we are pretty much in alignment.

I do agree on trying to find stuff for yourself, this game just has such a learning curve it is hard to keep track of everything without creating your own documentation. One nice feature could be that once you have found a material (in a specific type of USS), your computer remembers the conditions that created it. That and a small amount of randomization, along with some of my other thoughts on more specific directions, and I'd be very satisfied.

Nice idea! That would be a fantastic addition to the player journal/codex stuff when it arrives - fingers crossed

Back on topic -

I just took a new Commander and can confirm it is working as before. All 10 mat drop points are working (although one is flakey) each pickup gives 3 units - except the data point - data only at one unit.

I have not had any trouble loading at the site, just annoyed at the circling NPCs masking the outcrop and meteorite wavescanner signals as they move about.

EDIT - I am on PC.

working fine here. Although a trio of gankers flew in @ solo and set up a nice shooting arcade when they appeared in open. A real talented group shooting, SRVs and anything parked on the ground. Was in an SRV on the hill looking down when they appeared guns a blazing:
Other than the limp wrist squad the place is working as usual:O

One good thing about the NPCs is them being near the site, making it a bit easier to find. I've just been hanging out there until I can fill up my stocks of drops eventually. Slow going, of course, but having fun messing about in an SRV, for what it's worth.

Oh, I'm also on PC, if it makes any difference.

Great. The only thing keeping me sane with the new engineer requirements was Dav's hope.

Dude, hate to break it to you but if driving around and around Dav's Hope, mode switching to respawn the materials, is your idea of "sane" then the space madness has already set in so bad that you don't even know you've got it!

Plus, you can scan the NPC ships each time you relog and get some more scan data. Everything adds up.

I agree with this and I'm at Dav's Hope. [hehe]

Like using code to acquire items, money or get places instantly?

There's no way anyone on the Dev team plays this game legitimately, otherwise it wouldn't be such a mess.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it feels like the devs or testers don't actually play the game from the ground up like a real player.

I would challenge the dev or Ed to do a livestream(s) to play legit as a new player working up to get a chieftain, collecting materials and engineering the modules. Should be some riveting game play right?

Any Cmdrs hoping to visit Dav's Hope will find that the site is still effectively in locked down due to no server access... You can fly there, do one circuit bit as soon as you relog... Phizz - that's your lot! Locked out of EDH.

I've had to log into Vanilla ED, fly to Ohm Terminal and dock and then reload EDH to clear the server access issue... Docking at a station appears to clear the server error.

Umm guys, How do i log into Vanilla ED ? I have Horizons installed on PS4PRO using disc, but don't know how to log in with Vanilla ED. I "may" be stuck at Davs [big grin]
