I was able to land and collect materials, but I wasn't able to relog (spinning SRV for 1min, then connection error message). Had to log into basic ED to fly away.

Are you telling us it's not "massive' anymore? Maybe it's Meagre Multiplayer Online?
Maybe if they designed a robust, enjoyable experience, there would be a reason to use such tactics?

I landed hours ago on Dav while flying in a private group. After landing, saving to the main screen and attempting to log back in, I could not do just that and eventually hit the connection error screen. I gave up after 20+ minutes of trying but have just attempted to get back in again and am still not able to log in. Obviously this isn't affecting everyone but it seems it's still occurring to people like myself ( I'm on PS4) who are trapped planet side & unable to log in and flee let alone play.
I think he is saying that it would be better if engineering stuff to a high level was a more enjoyable experience. I think most would enjoy a challenge, even with a time investment, if it was a bit more immersive - at least I would, probably shouldn't speak for others.
That being said, I understand both points of view...grind can be where you find it.
What? I'm at Dav's Hope right now.
No issues on my end that I can tell. I can't seem to get a marker on my system map for it though. Not sure if that is actually a thing or not, but I had heard that if you scan all the points of interest type things one shows up.

Oh I have. What I see is people not collecting mats as they play the game, but instead only farming them and getting upset when that's not fun.
It's the equivalent of declaring Shadow of the Colossus a terribly designed game because it's not particularly fun trekking over the entire map collecting all the fruit and lizards before ever facing a colossus.
Lucky you. I've only gotten two drops of it in maybe 20 runs or so. I'm not rushing it though. Just mostly having fun mucking around in an SRV. I've been there on and off for maybe half a week or so.
Pic I took and posted earlier today elsewhere on the forums outside the back gate of Dav's Hope regarding the plums of dust behind an SRV that don't drop back down like they would in a real airless world such as the moon.

Have you tried logging into non horizens? Others have said they were able to get back in game to play, it will load you into orbit around A5 in your ship, though you might not be able to go back down to the settlement at least you might be able to play.
Is finding fruit and lizards in Shadow of the Collosus based on RNG? Or is it a case of it's achievable when you know where to look.

At first I got no CM at all in about 20 runs so I completely restarted the game. Since then I have got 27, almost 3 a run. I bet the luck ends soon though.
It's an example of playing back-to-front not an exact analogue and was never claimed to be. I think you know this and are being disingenuous.
I am on PS4 so I can't choose regular ED or ED+Horizons. I might be able to completely uninstall however I'm not sure I have the option when installing from disk to choose one or the other as this was the Dangerous Edition which came with ED/Horizons bundled.
Even if i can, it sounds like hours of uninstall, reinstall, download updates & potentially still not be able to log in.
I did start an internal ticket as I'm sure others have done yesterday and today regarding this issue. It is strange that some people are impacted while others are not.
It's definitely not my internet connection or PS4 Pro connection as everything else connects wired and wirelessly including the console which can connect to other online applications with no problem.
Rather frustrating.
