Anyone else think ranking up is now too fast & easy?

Ages ago, I ranked up in both Fed & Imp navies so I could get a Clipper & F[ADG]S. It took me FOREVER. Months. It was a grind, so I did other things in between.
Then the Corvette came out in release 2.whatever, I tried it in the Beta and decided I wanted one. Back to the grind, doing other stuff in between... More months...
Yes, it needed to be less grindy, but this weekend, I just got 2 promotions in only a few hours of play, and now I have a Corvette.
That was too easy.
The top-end ships should be something to aspire to. They should be coveted. People should have to WORK (not grind) for them.
Please nerf the Navy ranking to make it seem like more of an achievement when you actually unlock that ship you've been wanting to buy for the past few days year or so.

After I get my Cutter, obvs. :D

You are late to the party. Already nerfed. But for the record, I didn't think it too fast and easy.

The bragging rights for obtaining the Corvette and/or the Cutter were nerfed a long time ago now. The only players who truly earned their stripes in achieving both of these ships were those who obtained them a few years ago.

Since then, the rank requirements have been steadily eroding with every subsequent game update. To the point that we briefly saw the recent glitch that got you from zero to hero in literally a few days or less.

I personally don't really care either way. I bought my Corvette the same day it was added to the game since I was already a Rear Admiral in the Federation, and my Cutter back in late 2016 as the result of all of my PowerPlay activity with Aisling Duval and the Empire. I never set out to grind for either ship. It all just took care of itself through other activities.

But the fact that these two ships no longer signify any special effort or dedication to obtaining them just comes with the territory when you remove the original price of admission.

It kind of falls within the "Everyone Gets a Trophy" mindset that has created at least one generation who feel entitled to everything regardless of talent, skill or expended effort towards a specific goal.

But in the case of rank locked ships... I have never agreed with this approach, so opening up access to everyone doesn't bother me. But at the same time, there is nothing special about owning either ship.

No I don't.

However, I do think it lacks unique and specific gameplay attached to it, such as custom built missions for each rank, for each super power.

It hasn't been nerfed yet. Did a test run at Sothis -> Ceos post patch and went from 52% Post Commander to 78% in one, single direction, run. Tried the Empire one at Ngalinn as well and again reached 100% of the first rank almost immediately.

Of course they may have unintentionally nerfed mission ranking as I've yet to see a ranking mission appear and they did move the ranking missions according to the patch notes so I'm thinking it might be a bug.

yes, i think so too :D, we need a "Rank up Now" button at launcher, right beside the "+1B Credits" one

Was that with a full mission list? IIRC, a full list did give me almost 50% progress, so 26% seems like a nerf.

Considering the only meaningful rank reward is the ability to buy certain ships I'd say the previous month long grind was way (way) out of proportion. Then again getting to the max rank within hours was out of proportion too.
Here is the thing, to me ED in its essence is a single player game and I do not appreciate mmo grinding standards in a single player game.

Let me draw an analogy. Dark Souls is a single player rpg which (just like ED) allows you to play with your friends (summon / wing). There is also pvp (invasions / interdictions). Both games also feature a mode without any interaction with other players. Even though they are fundamentally different games the way they handle multiplayer is -very- similar. Yet Souls doesn't pretend to be an mmo of any kind, ED does.
