I was hoping for a delivery one to stretch out my new T9.
is there really only 1 active CG at the moment, killing thargoids?

There's an asteroid pirate base hunting one as well, but that's only for the premium accounts.

i am guessing horizons only... is it at a planetary base or something?

There is only one FD CG active at the moment but there are some player organized ones.
Operation IDA is a worthwhile cause, repairing stations after Thargoid attacks and making great progress.
Currently restoring Hudson Orbital on HIP 17605, well it went into Lockdown so they are working on Cyllene Orbital in Atlas.
Great bunch of Cmdrs as well.

There is indeed only one CG. Strangely enough it's not the Thargoids killing one - that completed in 2 days. No, it's the hand-in-bits-of-thargoid one, which probably should have been done at the same time. It got forgotten in pew-pew-stampede-blood-rush.
Anyway, to participate now, you'll need to, er, kill thargoids, and collect the bits.

But it's fun. Chieftain with 3 turreted AX multicannons shreds trough a scout in like 10 seconds...
