Hmm, wondering if the reputation will get better if you feed them with Meta Alloys or some other tasty cargo like Escape Pods 
This implies the Thargoids are a Faction, as far as the BGS is concerned - which explains why Thargoid systems are located on the Gal Map

I'm probably an Ally by now as I've been giving them scooby snacks with cargo jettison since they appeared in 2.4.
I was wondering why I've never been attacked, even when I chanced a drop from supercruise with one of the Medusa types?
My bet is they will be opening up Col 70 sector area permits if you bring them scooby snacks and the occasional occupied escape pod with Aegis employees in them.

I have been feeding slaves since day one. If i know I am going to be meeting, or looking for them. I load up a couple of slave pods and drop them off next time I meet. I'd say they are a "Superpower" just as the Pilots Federation is one and you can become friendly and Allied by handing in Combat bonds they issue fighting the goids.
Will be interest is seeing if this in intended or just a consequence of adding them as an Entity to show on Galmaps etc
Thargoid "faction" has been in the game since day dot. Highly likely a bug that you got that message,,, but possibly not a bug that your rep is affected with them.
I'm really keen to see what fappens if youre hostile, do they attack by default?
