3.0.3+ HOW TO MAKE DECENT MONEY

Remember the old days, when you saw a player docking in an Anaconda and thought "one day I'll be able to afford one of those..."

FD practically hand out sacks of cash now. Seems to happen in every game though - starts out stingy and hard to come by, the plebs don't like it and then they do the full reverski on it. People complain about 'easy ranking', but actually the 'easy money' is the real issue. It used to be *hard* to buy the hull, now it's like 140 million for thrusters...give me a couple of hours...

Yup. It's a shame that the game seems to be catering to the lowest common denominator at the moment. When the game was at it's best was when getting things was a challange. You had to plan your course of action. Not now. Everything is so easy to get I am now ignoring missions as they pay far too much it becomes not fun. Luckily there is plenty of game without the missions.

A thread was opened about this method of optimizing your time when doing those skimmer missions and it was for some reason closed without even watching the video. I am opening it again since I SAW THE VIDEO (while others apparently didnt) and it seems like a legit way to pass your time and make some money. Now that i stated the above, lets see now how this thread goes.

The original thread is this: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/416867-Tutorial-3-0-3-Skimmer-Missions-100M-hr

And it was closed one minute after the thread was started, while the video lasts more than 5 minutes!! They didnt even watch the video lol.

It doesnt look like a bug to me..

For the vid maker.
Looked at the clip, it seams its some danger in it so you need to repair reload and clean your ship on regular basis. So is hunting for materials and fly and pay off bountys counted for in the 100mil/h? Probably not.

Didn't analyse it, its something for the evening, but i am pretty sure the youtuber made some ok round with top reputation. The time it takes to get high rep should be in the timeframe ( but i can se why and its more practical to take it out of the equation) but you can't take out the time you spend to clean the ship or searching for mats how easy they are to get. If you have to use 10-20 minutes for these activities /h payout will get lower.

And now it seams there is some risk and advanced gameplay involved (before was shooting fish in a barrel) you can lose a srv on a attack, that will set you back time for land again and sooner clean the ship.

So is this the real credit/hour, anyone done them and can confirm the time?

When you turn your gameplay into Cr/h efficiency: die in the SRV then re-spawn in your ship in orbit to save time. While this looks legitimate, I don't like it.

But then..
- mission board hopping can take more than 1h..
- jump in/out if there are ships flying around.. that definitely has a random factor that can't be computed into the 1h..
- if you dismiss your ship, you are going to have to land again if the srv gets killed, that adds time to the 1h (add the random factor of the previous one).
- gather materials for SRV rearm (while easy to find, takes probably more than 10 minutes to add to the same 1h).
- all this is assuming you are ranked up already..
- Dont forget the time to pay the fines/bounties etc.. count them within the 1h..

I would like to see an unedited video of someone doing 100Mcr/h, even better, stream it.

It is, I am turning down missions because my 752 tonne capacity fills up so quickly.

I totally respect your decision not to share where you're finding these 50mill 180t missions.

When you shared the awesome tip about delivering medical supplies the payouts dried up same day.

That said, could you share how you go about looking for the best spots for hauling cargo?

Aside from the medical supplies, whenever I visit a site that is said to be handing out good paying cargo or passenger missions, they either aren't there OR require me to sit in supercruise for nearly an hour, something I don't have time for :-(

Full disclosure - I've only been playing for just under two years, made Admiral and King the old fashion way, and I'm only now just getting my second Elite rank, and own all the ships I can buy.

That said, I'm stuggling to make credits to outfit my big ships without grinding for hundreds of hours. To me, the reward of A rating my Corvette or Cutter just isn't worth 200 hours of grinding.

So, as far as my perspective goes, I'm not finding missions who's payout was too high. In fact, most are too low.

Most of my game sessions are 15-30 minutes long (I have a full time job and family, and not a lot of time to game) and the best I've been able to make is 5-9 mill every 15-20 minutes.

And that's stacking my Python full to the brim with cargo and data missions, or packing in as many people will fit into my Beluga.

And to get paid that much, I have to hang out on the edge of the bubble, forcing me to spend a quarter of an hour jumping back to civilization whenever I want to play with friends.

So if you think there are a lot of over generous missions please share them... I for one have been searching for missions with decent payouts and I'm not finding them in the bubble, well unless they require sitting in supercruise for 45 minutes or longer - not an option for me.

Or, if you don't want to share the specifics, please share how to find them as I don't mind following the bread crumbs.

But saying there are too many high paying missions is something I can't support as I'm not seeing them anywhere I go.

PS - I'm not talking about glitches which I avoid - like the mining and skimmer missions FDev had to remove. And yes, while Imperial rank was over generous for awhile allowing players to go from no rank to King in several hours (I did it to rank up my second account on PC,) it didn't pay anywhere near the 5-9 mill I make everyone 15-20 minutes on the edge of the bubble.

The problem I see is, people will expect the difficult (or lack of) of the previous exploit back, but now it is hard and a lot of 'yeah, lets get to this' people will just die and die and die, blaming FD again or asking for an even more ridiculous buff to something.

LOL! Working as intended! All the devs have to do now, to make the pro-grind folks happy, is lower the payouts for the missions!

Looks like legitimate gameplay. Of course that does't mean Cosmo and the forum dad band won't cry about it making too many credits, as per usual.

If you want to teach them a lesson I'd stop calling everyone that doesn't agree with your version of 'grind' forum dad band, meanwhile, disrespect just pays back.

Indeed they're more like the fun police.
/s

I don't think so, in particular I think Cosmo is acting in a very responsible manner. He is not stopping anything, he is just pointing stuff to FD so they can make their own judgement. Do you guys do the same with every other stuff you don't find 'acceptable'? same fun.

You don't think so..well that's nice but obviously many of us do so.......

How to make money in Elite Dangerous:

Don't post videos about making money to the internet where a-person-with-a-name-similar-to-that-Carl-Sagan-book-that-was-then-turned-into-a-13-part-television-series can see it.

Full disclosure - I've only been playing for just under two years, made Admiral and King the old fashion way, and I'm only now just getting my second Elite rank, and own all the ships I can buy.
Been playing for over three years (since original gamma/beta) and my biggest ship is an underused Python. I have no Elite ranks and I am Chief Petty Officer in the Fed Navy and Baron in the Empire Navy. But I am in no rush to get higher at the moment.

That said, I'm stuggling to make credits to outfit my big ships without grinding for hundreds of hours. To me, the reward of A rating my Corvette or Cutter just isn't worth 200 hours of grinding.
These ships are meant to take a long time to get and to fully A-Grade them, they can be used perfectly fine when not fully A-Graded. The issue I see here is that you are more involved in the end product instead of the journey, but that is up to you. I don't and won't grind for anything, no matter how much I want something.

So, as far as my perspective goes, I'm not finding missions who's payout was too high. In fact, most are too low.
Again it looks like the goal is more inportant then the journey. What will you do with your A-rated corvette? The exact same gameplay I can do in my Python and most of it I can do in my Cobra Mk3. Not including PvP.

Most of my game sessions are 15-30 minutes long (I have a full time job and family, and not a lot of time to game) and the best I've been able to make is 5-9 mill every 15-20 minutes.
I also have a family and full time job and lucky to get 1-3 hours of gaming a week in.

And that's stacking my Python full to the brim with cargo and data missions, or packing in as many people will fit into my Beluga.
Again, why are you grinding for something that at the end of the day will give you the same gameplay with the ships you already have?

And to get paid that much, I have to hang out on the edge of the bubble, forcing me to spend a quarter of an hour jumping back to civilization whenever I want to play with friends.
That is your choice. The game does not force that on you. These are your goals and you have chosen to chase after them in a specific manor.

So if you think there are a lot of over generous missions please share them... I for one have been searching for missions with decent payouts and I'm not finding them in the bubble, well unless they require sitting in supercruise for 45 minutes or longer - not an option for me.
There are a lot of missions that pay over a million credit, most seem to from my experience. I am also happy for there to be high rewarding missions as long as the difficulty is upped considerably. Like doing trade missions to anarchy systems where the chances of interdiction and ship destruction are high.

Or, if you don't want to share the specifics, please share how to find them as I don't mind following the bread crumbs.
Get good rep with a factions and most mission will pay good money, especially passanger missions.

But saying there are too many high paying missions is something I can't support as I'm not seeing them anywhere I go.
This all depends on what you think is high paying. Anything over a million credits is in my view is high paying.

I have never used an exploit of glitch either. I just seem to find getting credits extremely easy.

It doesnt look like a bug to me..

The joke is Cosmo put it as Severe. How on earth is it a severe bug by any stretch? Is it game breaking? Does it even make the game hard to play?

I'm always careful with bug reports, and I'm surprised someone who considers themselves such a Savior of the ED community would be so flippant.

But yes OP, as the OP of the vid said, this is challanging and it's using the SRV. I don't see the issue.
