The nerf hammer!

Agreed OP : since launch, FD always seemed excessive or blatantly apathetic regarding adjustments in the game : nerf to oblivion (smuggling missions) or do nothing at all (board hoping).

Definitely something they need to improve.

Excess and Worthless... It's all a matter of your opinion isn't it?

I'd just like FD to stop kowtowing to the combat crowd and actually focus on some non combat interactions.

I'll see you that and raise you one. I'd like for Frontier to stop placating all the squeaking wheel snowflakes and remember that Elite: Dangerous is their game and stick to their vision accordingly. Trying to change stuff every single time someone cries foul is extremely myopic. For every Cmdr that complains about an issue there are many more that are perfectly content and as such don't feel a need to voice their opinion.

If something is legitimately broken or imbalanced that is one thing but the amount of complaining about things because it's not the way they did or do it has become ridiculous. Blaze your own trail doesn't mean that everyone has to follow the trail you made. Some Cmdrs here don't seem to get that.

Have some useless rep and keep preaching. I couldn't have said it better.

True. Their does however seem to be forum concensus (as good as that is) that reactionary nerfs are heavy handed. To the point of making whatever the mechanism "du jour" is, go from over powered to unused.

Your thoughts people....?
I think they should stop reading the forums and do what THEY think is best.

Yeah yeah... going back to my corner...

Edit: eh.. uh.. that wasn't an original response either it seems... pff.. note to self: next time, read existing replies before posting...

I presume you have the figures handy to support your alleged consensus?

I would love some kowtowing. The pay is godawful for combat.

Much more eloquent than I :)

True, but the root of the problem is in what makes the "mechanism "du jour""? As soon as people complain about something enough saying it 'has to change' and then Frontier change it, they're on to complaining about something else. There's always going to be people complaining about something, it's just some do it more than others and will never be happy.

Chortle. Indeed I oft sit and collate forum data to present in nice power point presentations and striking graphs to back my statements. Seriously though... I see a lot of extremes and conflicting opinions on here. However a lot of folk seem to agree that there's a balance not being struck.

@Ozric

I'm not sure what the funny part is. Skimmer missions werent popular - did them before they became a gold rush, now they get pretty much screwed up and massacre missions are still terrible pay for conflict zones and pirate massacres in general for killing maybe 200 ships which takes a bloomin long time.

However I hear there are some trade missions going 50mil for 180 tonnes - sounds like a gold rush. Might as well knock down all the income at once eh. I completely understand the OP when theres this over-reaction all the time. Why it matters in a game with no player market I don't understand.

I dont often have a giant moan, but didn't appreciate that unwarranted reaction from you. I've always been consistent with my requests for better pay for combat missions, based on the risk to it also.

Still we get on with it but it does take away some of the fun. Which is why its a divisive issue I guess. Seems like a few like the gruel for dinner.

Its kinda strange because its like FDEV are being trolled by certain types and then they listen to them after most were finally happy the direction was changing from extreme slog to more reasonable.

A minor tone down is very different to a crushing nerf hammer. Please for the love of god don't backtrack on the progress to engineers so far.
