FD, admit it: you cannot fix navy rank\invite\permit missions.

Since these missions first appeared, they were a huge PITA for both players and FD programmers. The former constantly faced spawn problems and had to relog for missions to appear; sometimes it required several hours of relogging. The latter had to try and find a fix for all the problems associated with RNG nature of mission board.

3.0.3 was the final straw. You failed, FD, and failed spectacularly.

There is only proven way to fix all the problems with rank\invite\permit missions: Remove them and make navy ranks, permits and engineer invites work like Pilots Federation ranks and Shinrarta Dezhra permit. Which means automatically.

It's a win-win situation. We get simple, logical and uniform system for everything rank-related, and you eliminate a major problem that plagued ED from the very start. Please, pretty please, pretty please with cherry on top, stop clinging to a bad design decision and make this thing right.

Funny stuff, I've never had any issue getting Federal rank missions. They're always sitting down there in the category of missions I can't accept because I won't be bothered to purposefully raise my reputation with any Federation minor faction. My current reputation with the Federation sits as -5% at writing. Now that you gain reputation from missions with the destination faction as well has the issuing faction, making rank gains automatic would be like making herpes airborne communicable in my case. I don't want Federation or Imperial rank, I got a reputation to uphold. Annoying enough that I have to constantly abandon Federal faction missions to keep my superpower reputation at a satisfactory negative.

I still hold out hope for the option of a military career, docking with the capital ships and getting military missions, that was mooted as the next iteration of military ranking after the game was initially released. We have docking with the mega ships, Aegis are giving out Thargoid Massacre missions, so we cannot be far away.

Gotta say, yeah, I agree too. Make it automatic.

Why have that 'one more' mission to gain a rank. Just pop it when it goes beyond 99%.

Personally, having to do the rank up missions makes ranking up satisfying and to me keeps the story of my cmdr going. I never had issues getting the navy missions myself. If i hit 100% and the mission isnt on the board i just do something else.

I have two CMDRs who are both Kings and Admirals. My primary has every engineer unlocked and every permit that you can currently obtain. My alt CMDR has many engineers unlocked, including Qwent, and at least 1/2 of the system permits.

I know there have been some rocky sections after 3.0.3, but they'll get it straightened out.

I've never had a hard time finding them, just ones I actually want to do. No, I don't want to destroy some pirate lord or 30 faction ships. Yes, I want to haul cargo or a message to a system 1 jump away!:D

If you don't want Federal rank, there is a simple solution: don't work for Federation. Don't accept and complete their missions. It's that easy.

Weird. Never had any issues myself, but then again I was never in a rush to get the actual rank-up missions because when I was grinding for rank I was always trying to work through multiple ranks and hence kept doing tons of rep missions anyway, because I knew they'd show up eventually. And they always showed up eventually. I guess I don't CARE if they are removed, though, because the Navy rank-up missions are all exactly the same randomized missions as any other, just with the word "Navy" in them.

An actual military career path with meaningful rank requirements and hand-crafted missions and long-term repercussions of various battles and -hahahaha that's never going to happen yeah I guess get rid of Navy rank-up missions then.

Yeah, this. They are not special missions in any way.

I've never had a hard time finding them

It varies from patch to patch. Sometimes these missions are easy to find. Sometimes it's huge PITA. And don't forget about stupid "15 Ly" rule for system permits...
I'm a triple Elite, Admiral\King and I have every obtainable system permit, so I DO know a thing or two about these missions.
