"Fixing" The Assisiation Mission Time limit

I’m doing some missions now. Figured out right away nav beacons still work, but this is ridiculous. Coupled with the rank up issue and slow board load times, I’m having a hard time justifying the time I spend on this game (I have found hitting the A botton ((on xbox)) does engage it faster tho). Only thing saving me from a total meltdown is the fact I have about 220mil to go before I can buy my high-end vette outright @ 15% off 😜....if I ever get to rank up again

I've done about 15 assassination missions since 3.0.3 dropped (honking every time I arrived to the target system), and for 12 of them I had to scan the nav beacon before target planet was identified; other 2 locations were identified when I honked, and one just told me where target was as soon as I arrived to the system (before honking). So it's pretty inconsistent, looks more like buggy mechanic than being fully intended.

Also, I had mission targets USS's spawn as normal, upon arriving to the planet (with the customary 5 minute flying around waiting), so I didn't have to wait for the mission timer.

Not to say that other people don't have trouble identifying target (a lot of people can't get the mission to tell them where the target is, or USS doesn't spawn at all), guess I was just lucky not to be affected. But there are too many inconsistencies to be sure what's intended and what isn't.

Welcome to the wonderful world of USS mechanics.

Yeah they have borked the missions i liked, asassination missions among them, to the point that i bought a type 10 tonight and was trading meds to an outbreak system.
Havent had to trade since i was too weak to kill most any NPC that popped up in front of me.

Fair enough that scanning the nav beacon works, and that's no big deal, easy to do.

But... What then does the patch note mean? It seems to imply that they don't want us finding the target before the window of opportunity starts. So is being able to scan the nav beacon and find the USS a bug!

That means they tried to fix some obscure bug and accidentally broke ADS.

Or not, and it was intentional.

Who knows? This is FD, after all.

I'm 99% sure that the patch notes refer to the bug where you would instantly receive the "target body" mission update before you even honked the ADS. This wasn't common, but I did experience it a few times. It would happen the moment I dropped into the system.

Also for clarity, having to drop out of SC and scan the nav beacon was also something that happened on occasion, for ages now.

LOL... Well that ain't fixed either then, as the one pirate lord mission I did (yesterday) did exactly that, mission update came as soon as I arrived in system. It was within the window of opportunity, by about one minute.

As to having to drop at the nav beacon, by which I presume you mean that honking the ADS didn't work, can't say I have ever had to do that, and I've done a fair few assassination missions in my time. :)
