General / Off-Topic Star Wars the last Jedi

Written by an incompetent writer who didn't bother to check what was actually written in the previous movie.
Utterly waste of time, I actually was reading news on my I pad at some point :D Even Jar jar binks was more funny than this stupid compilation of nonsense.

It wasn't scary, the characters was poorly made, ahhhgggggggggggggg I hate it :D

This is how I remember it....

Ugh, I had blocked that scene out.
Stupid, stupid scene.
Also, the failed attempts of smarmy humour was a bad idea.

I took the whole milking of the cow as a not so subtle nod by the director that Disney were MILKING THIS CASH COW TO THE HILT.
The fact the milk was green which is symbolic with the US greenback dollar, was just further reinforcement of this statement.

Well the scene was weird to say at least.

I still don't get why the spent god knows how many hours crawling after the rebel fleet, instead of just jumping ahead of them...

No one, in all that time, thought of that.

"We could just jump ahead, or call in even more star destroyers, to cut them off, and end this now!"

"No... Just stalk them, until they formulate a really over the top plan, that we utterly fail to notice, unless some stranger points it out"

"...ok!"

Well I don’t know who wrote this “master piece “ but it’s not on my rewatch list.

So I finally watched it, and it was just one of the most toe crunching expirences ive had for a long time.

The story socked, the characters were silly and every thing in between just stupid. Disney finally killed my childhood and it didn’t felt good.

I’m I getting old? What’s wrong with today’s movies, are they just getting more and more stupid?

I praise Blade Runner 2049 was a good movie, so there is still hope.....

Honestly ... The Last Jedi was my favorite film of the franchise since seeing the original in the theater back in '77. To be fair though I'm one of those people who doesn't consider Empire to have been the best of the original trilogy ... I'm also not wedded to the franchise so it doesn't bother me if something in the story didn't line up 100% with some fan expectation from an Expanded Universe story that I never read. I was entertained.

I'm a Star Trek fan not a Star Wars fan. I watch Star Wars just to be entertained and don't dig any deeper into it than that. Now ... if you want to talk about how J. J. Abrams ruined MY favorite franchise? Yeah. I got a lot of grief about the new Trek movies ... and Discovery.

Star Trek is dead! don't get me started with that one :D

Back to SW, my issue is multi phased, and beside all the stupid writer mistakes and silly charterers (Eworks, Jar jar,) the universe is actually very interesting.

However the writer is Bipolar, it not very good connected and like any dish when to many cooks try to make it, it ends up tasting like crap.

In the original movie you got interesting characters, like SOLO, you got interesting scenes however in this new movie you got nothing.

Lets take a look at this scene, pretty simple but very effective.

Or this scene...

but in the new movie we got all kinds of silliness and stupid creatures a mix of Harry Potter en I don't know what....

edit...

BTW this is also a good scene, they just butchered it in the HQ remake.

I haven't watched the Last Jedi, and of what I've hard so far about it, it will remain so.
In today's movies the CGI-woo replaced proper characters and stories.

They just replaced "a story" with blah blah blah.....

As I said, I'm getting old, the world is getting stupid and movies just sock, and then once a while there is a gem like Blade Runner 2049, lets see if Avatar is going to be great or just meh?

I really much prefer when stories of any kind (but especially films and television shows) tell much while saying/doing little, like that scene. But... I always liked the version with the original music.

Don't forget Music nowadays is just noise !.

Has anyone seen my reading glasses.

FWIW I liked it ... in fact, with the rose-tinted-glasses-of-former-youth removed, and bearing in mind I'm now CONSIDERABLY older and more cynical than the wide eyed impressionable youth that walked out of that first life changing film many many years ago ... I think it might be my favourite so far. There ... I've said it. :x

I've seen Force Awakens once, can't bother watching it again. I'd watch any of the original trilogy once more.

They have killed off the original characters in a low-rent fashion exchange for the generic ones no one cares about. The only positive thing I can say, is that these new ones make the prequels look good.

Music these days IS just noise, stupid and silly, now get off my lawn!! ;)

That's ok, we don't have to agree :D

Edit:

But consider this; they killed all the old characters, non of the new ones are interesting.

I find the new trilogy lazy. Rey has done no grinding like Luke had to. She is just awesome without actually doing any training. We follow no progress of hers, she just is from what convoluted story they managed to bore us with. Speed 3

Oddly that's one of the things I like about her character; it's kind of elemental to use the force without really meaning to? I think there's a freshness to the movies in that sense too - more in Last Jedi than Awakens. Po might be a Han Solo shoe in but Harrison Ford - apart from looking good - didn't really bring anything particularly special to the role for me, space pirate is just a good role. Mark Hamill is oddly the more entertaining watch for me, Ford a bit clunky. Is it Rose (?) reminded me of the blind guy in Rogue One, a non-force user with force user traits, that's pretty funky. Ren is also quite elemental and Domhnall Gleeson is a good to watch as always (for me he'll always be the clan techie in Dredd 2012). As for people getting punked by "who is Snoke" only to find him killed right away? That's just funny.

I don't call a quick montage with Yoda, then completely ignoring all his advice yet triumphing anyway grinding.

Luke was a Mary Sue, Jedi by their nature are all Mary Sue's. The whole Mary Sue thing is extremely dumb and should be purged with fire, hero's have been one dimensional superbeings since before humanity invented writing.

You trendy young tearaways with your fashionable things to complain about, ignoring the wisdom of the ancients.

I liked it, but the whole Finn plot should have been removed to make a tighter film. It was like 'We have to give that guy something to do'.

But overall enjoyed it. I am 40.

I really tried, but I can't even remember the Finn plot, but perhaps that's just because my memory sucks.
