Im done.

You’re right, I don’t care.

Sorry, but I’m getting pretty sick of everyone and their dog thinking that they need to tell all of us when and why they’ve stopped playing. It matters to no one here in any way.

It matters to me. I like to hear the reasons.

Yep i know its my fault, I didn't think they would actually make it so if I died without enough insurance money I would have to start over again, THAT. It already took me 200 hours to get there lol. Have fun though everyone else :) This game is def just a grind fest with way too much to lose if you make one mistake. Like hitting the wrong button, and dying. Then having 200 hours wasted.

Yes I know you dont care.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

They’re almost always the same. They either got bored or they rage-quit. How is that worth an entire thread?

Well, just think, This is one outspoken guy. Vs the people that dont even take the time to make a post about it.

There are lots of underlying issues besides his rebuy though. Which he admits was his doing.

Not really fair imo for people to dismiss it or treat OP bad because of long standing issues with the game.

I'm guessing this must be a younger fella who's never heard of a DEDUCTIBLE.

A 10% deductible for insurance you DON'T pay for...seems fair enough.

Like hitting the wrong button, and dying.

you survived. death is against the rules. only your ship exploded and you can't have it back.

"we" need to know ...

boost inside station or between rocks?
silent running by accident and not remembering the binding?
trigger at the wrong time/target?

dude, like other's said: you'll make the credits back in no time. mistakes are a gift if you survive to learn from them. and you did.

Well maybe don't post in it then?
It’s already here, so I might as well use it to make my point on the subject rather than waste even more front page space making another thread.

Just imagine what it’d be like if every single forum user who didn’t quit the game today made a thread about it. That would demonstrate how meaningless and insignificant the “I quit” threads are.

Don't give up Makasouleater. That scenario has happened to loads of folk. I myself have come close a few times, especially after a serious bout of upgrading components. Even now I have a well equipped Anaconda parked up but I cant use it right now because I don't have enough of a credit buffer in case the worst should happen, once I do then I can fly it again. That's the thing about Elite, the worst can happen anytime and you have to be ready as the game is only too willing to hand out hard lessons to the unwary. It's always been that way.

I recently started a new Commander in the game and after just one day of doing a bit of exploring, some planetary scanning and salvaging missions I had enough for a Cobra MkIII. Head to Li Yong Rui space (the Lembava system is a good place to start) and get a 15% discount on ships and equipment, this alone can save you a bundle. Once you get this ship then you have a solid base to grow from. Work on it, fit better equipment, maybe even do a little engineering on it and it will serve you well. After that consider a T6. They are relatively cheap and can carry a decent amount of cargo. Then the sky is the limit. Also, try not to sell these ships. The Sidewinder you don't need to worry about, but always keep a Cobra MkIII and a T6 around because those two can get you back on your feet again quickly should you suffer a big loss. ;)

As for the grind, the game is only grindy if you let it be so. If you do feel what you are doing is grindy, then stop. Go do something else or join up with others in the game and have fun. The options are there if you want them.
Good luck!

Have to wonder what counts as a community these days.

By pure definition alone i suppose the forums are a community, but by actions i have to say i dont see much commumity here. Thats not aimed at everyone,i thinknof we all read the posts here could see who its aimed at.

What platform you on OP?

If your on PS4 i could give a hand helping you get back to where you were.

I def wont be back.

That's a pity. If you've played 200 hours and feel the hurt of losing your ship then you must be enjoying it enough to give it another go. Perhaps after a small break?

In the mean time ask those awfully nice support people if they might help you out. You've nothing to lose by asking?

I do care.

I would like to ask you what it is you want, in Elite. If your answer is "To have the biggest ship and every module godly engineered" then yes. Quit.
But if your answer is "To pilot a ship in stunningly made universe, doing what ever I want" then I let you on a secret - you can do THAT in a Sidewinder.

But I suspect it is the former, in which case all I have to say is - try not to live your life like you played this game. o7 commander.

Seriously? There's no reason for the moral superiority and the gesturing just because he is quitting a video game. What does it have to do with his life?

Actually he could probably just say he needs help and someone here at the Forum would wing up with him and he would make plenty of cash right away to buy his ship back without doing too much.

Yes I know you dont care.

I feel bad for you because I played less than one full day on my second account and was a billionaire and Elite in trading. If you find the right deal you don't need to grind too much.

Because if he's grinding through life like he was gringding through the game, he's going to be unhappy.

People are so focused on money, that they miss the whole game around them. Just like in real life. If you just work and sleep, never looking around, you know, smelling the roses by the road, climbing the hill you've seen in a distance just to find out how far you can see from it, you won't have any life.

Money don't matter. The experience does.

Nope it was to have fun exploring and fighting stuff. Nope you def can't do that in a sidewinder. It took me way to many transport runs to get a ship big enough to do anything. You cant take a sidewinder, and go do combat, or exploration. You can't even jump very far in a sidewinder.

Lol live life like this game, get out of here. Insurance doesn't work like that at all, not even close. No one gives some one a 100 million dollar anything for 10 percent. It should be you buy the insurance before hand, and if you lose it you get it back, not this stupid way. I didn't even realise how that worked till it was to late, because there was 0 chance of dying in what i did.

You def didn't care, you just wanted to make fun of me so stop your nonsense.

You are right if i knew if i died I would have to start from starch i wouldn't of did it. But there is no way I am grinding another 200 hours to get it back.

Knowing what you now know, you could be better off financially in ten hours from restarting in a sidewinder then the point where you were at after 200 hours.
