Im done.

I didn't even realise how that worked till it was to late, because there was 0 chance of dying in what i did.

You are right if i knew if i died I would have to start from starch i wouldn't of did it. But there is no way I am grinding another 200 hours to get it back.

There lies the key to your recovery, Commander. Contact Support, explain to them what happened, and include the lines you have just stated. I can't guarantee anything, but others in similar circumstances have found them very accomodating. They are (it is alleged) the best part of FD to deal with) .

All is not lost, Commander :)

Nope it was to have fun exploring and fighting stuff. Nope you def can't do that in a sidewinder. It took me way to many transport runs to get a ship big enough to do anything. You cant take a sidewinder, and go do combat, or exploration. You can't even jump very far in a sidewinder.

Lol live life like this game, get out of here. Insurance doesn't work like that at all, not even close. No one gives some one a 100 million dollar anything for 10 percent. It should be you buy the insurance before hand, and if you lose it you get it back, not this stupid way. I didn't even realise how that worked till it was to late, because there was 0 chance of dying in what i did.

You def didn't care, you just wanted to make fun of me so stop your nonsense.

I think most people are concerned at the fact that you managed to put 200 hours into this game and not know about the workings of a fundamental game mechanic like rebuy insurance. That's not a jab at you per se, because if there's some glaring hole in the game experience that let you fall that far into a knowledge hole people want to know about it. Of course if no such hole exists, it'll primarily be jabs at you, so there's that.

Nope I never died, the system is stupid, and highly unrealistic.

Ah, yes, realism, of course. Would you have preferred you just had X amount taken out of your credit balance periodically instead of paying the in game equivalent of a deductible? Or how about both? Oh I got it, how about they put a salvage title on your ship which greatly diminishes it's value along with the decreased performance you'd likely have from 'totaling' it in the first place? How realistic were you hoping the game would be exactly?

I can't tell you the number of times, when I started, that I died and was so mad and frustrated that I was a few keystrokes from uninstalling.

But you have to push through that and keep that progression going; aim to get a Cobra and try to unlock some of the engineers to get some grade 1-3 options. You'll be surprised at the difference these changes will make.

Good luck.

Maybe he hoped to die IRL, too. That would be pretty realistic.

Learn from the mistakes of others, you'll never live long enough to make them all yourself.

And it won't take you 200 hours to get back to where you were before. You know how to play the game now, and at least one fatal mistake to avoid.

Don't be ready to give up so easily, 200 hours is nothing.

This game is about the gameplay, not advancement within the game. You can have fun in a sidewinder with no money, and you can easily build up enough credits in another 200 hours of gameplay to buy some really great ships and modules.

Get back out there commander!

OP you don't have to grind 200 hours again, only credits, and they are so easy to come by. With 200 hours knowledge of the game you'll be back to where you were in no time.

you obviously didn't have that many credits when you died (hence the lack of rebuy credits) everything else is still there.

I will glance over your insult because you are frustrated and need to vent.
But just to explain the terms of insurance in Elite to you - YOU DIDN'T PAY THE INSURANCE. The insurance is automatic and costs you nothing while covering 95% of your losses. All you have to do is to cover the remaining 5%. I think it's pretty fair, even for R/L standards.

Yep i know its my fault, I didn't think they would actually make it so if I died without enough insurance money I would have to start over again, THAT. It already took me 200 hours to get there lol. Have fun though everyone else :) This game is def just a grind fest with way too much to lose if you make one mistake. Like hitting the wrong button, and dying. Then having 200 hours wasted.

Yes I know you dont care.

Some players hate this, but if you get in touch with support they'll roll back your save. Ask nicely and don't tell them it's their fault or that the games broken.

Always fly with rebuy.

muh personal story in 60 seconds:

Sidey, did missions in open, died twice, got a cobra.

became trading king in muh own lunchtime

got Asp X, become explorer of the year, in my own lunchtime

got python, became dangerous, tradering, missioning and "stuff"

got Annie, hated it, sold it. Stay with python and FdL for laffs

Engineers. Grade 5

got chieftain, ignored it.

got another I-courier, 1 x speed & lightweight. I x bounty hunter mode (1200 shields!).

did it without exploits, no soothis type stuff, just playing, a lot in open. Had fun. Its a game. :)

Yes I know you dont care.

Sucked in mate. Got what you deserve for not paying attention. Now go right ahead and quit the forum too since you quit the game.

What did you understand by the terms "insurance" or "rebuy"?

But, I know it seems rough now, there's lot more dull fun to be had out there if you persevere.
