Kudos to Frontier for the gratuitous nerfing!

It's about dang time Frontier! After continually making the game easier and easier for years, it's about dang time!

Edit:

I started this thread with just the first that first couple sentences to see what I'd get. Now I'll give a bit of an explanation. I had a couple reason for starting it. I started right when the game went GA back in 2014. Back then everything was "nerfed". Everything which was in the game was more grindy and much much much less profitable than it is now believe it or not. Back then players were not supposed to have the most expensive ship (the Anaconda) in a week, a month or even three months of daily play.

Over these last few years as Frontier has added features, they've unfortunately added many exploits to the point that the players have come to expect it.

Now days, if people can't get to an Anaconda in a week they think the game as been nerfed.

Now finally Frontier is really trying to get their act together and slow the "instant win" train.

They should have done it earlier, but good for them!

While I'm not certain which aspect the OP is talking about, I did choke on my tea when I noticed the 750,000 cr bulk passenger mission of 48 people I was about to take was for a destination 23,000 light years away, and that the board was filled with them!

Now THAT is quality nerfing!

I'd argue nerfed too much, maybe. For example, the same month I got Elite, I also bought a new SUV. The SUV will be paid off before I can afford a Cutter.

They seem to be very keen to get progression right on track where they feel it needs to be. Lots of moaning and stumping follows but that's expected.

Disagree :)
I had the best gameplay experience with my Anaconda / Cutter + SLF / SRV. I can understand every player who wants to get these big ships asap.
My wingmates and I we had the most fun when we could farm combat bonds and stack massacre missions. It was at least some appropriate credit reward for boring gameplay.

Back in the 2014 I could "tolerate" flying in small ships for weeks/months because I had the illusion that some day these placeholder game mechanics we had will be replaced by solid, immersive and more or less complex gameplay.
But now years later we got aliens sitting in signal soruces. [haha]

So I hope there are still ways in the game for people to get enough credits in a short time to buy a conda.

I only play the game since the release on PS4 back last June.

However I agree that many tasks have become easier in the last few months.

Let's put aside the fact that when I started I had watched a youtube video stating that an Anaconda could be get in 20 hours playing time. Which as a noob I couldn't achieve. I believe it took me roughly four weeks with maybe 100 hours to get my first Anaconda.
Now with all my semi-veteran knowledge I already levelled an alternative CMDR up to Conda level in less than 20 hours but I would say it's more due to my superior knowledge and knowing the money places and techniques.

However somewhere in the last few months - and it was way before Beyond 3.0 - there was a point where mission payouts became extraordinary high in my opinion. Since then I can almost always find cargo missions with 3-5 million payouts for one jump in one of the neighbouring systems.

Long distance passenger transport missions - think of Smeaton Orbital - were extremely profitable. Yes, these were slightly nerfed for the bulk passenger transport however VIP transport wasn't so still profits in the tens of millions easily can be made per hour.

The recent change in engineering is perceived by many as more grindy. I disagree. Yes, modules need to be upgraded case by case. But I don't need to throw away anymore every second USS tons of valuable mats and data in exchange for the ones I'm just looking for cause I have a cap of 1.000 resp. 500. Altogether it's easier imho. In addition current g5 rolls are in most cases better what most players ever got with the old g5 rolls hence also a decent buff.

Now don't get me wrong - I like it in general. If I need 100m credits I just need to play a few hours. If I'm up to it I can make a billion in one week. Every week.
New g5 rolls are great and make my top ships even more overpowered.

But - I see personally no point to say the game became more grindy or more difficult. It's exactly the opposite.
The only game internal real challenges - and I thank Frontier for them - are Thargoids, ATRs and soloing wing massacre/assassination missions.

I believe the changes have been made predominantly to please the majority of players who are seeking for quick wins and to give everybody the feeling of quick progress.
Whether that's good or not I leave to everybody's personal perception.

Grind to some extent yes, difficult no.
