anaconda, cutter or corvette?

3) Type-10 - Most affordable - quite versatile

T-10 doesn't qualify as a big three/four IMHO... it's combining the weakest shields with the weakest firepower. It's not bad as a module-storage-ship, though. That's what I've repurposed mine to after the initial disappointment.

I love the Anaconda and the Corvette.. hard to say which one is better because they're both great and excel in different areas. Anaconda is more versatile, but the Vette is just great to fly and it really has that powerful feel to it (even though both ships are incredibly powerful.)

I wanted to love the Cutter, I really did.. but flying it was just awful. Not just in combat either, just flying around in Super Cruise or docking it at stations was just a chore. I got rid of the Cutter because I had no desire at all to fly it.

I never owned a Type 10, but imagine it's the same handling wise as the Cutter. I have a Type 9 and like the Cutter I hate flying it. The Anaconda is pretty much as low as I can go on the Maneuverability scale before I just can't take it anymore.

If you pick an Anaconda or a Corvette you won't be disappointed.

My 'Vette has now become it's own planet...with all the dust it's collected.

Currently re-engineering my Cutter to try & get a decent enough jump on it, to merit considering taking it on DWE2 later this year.

'Conda is my goto ship, does everything I want & a decent jump range....only downer is it turns like a canal barge!

It's not a full combat build then... a light combat build at best... My Vette jumps 16.9LY with a maxed out FSD. :(

I don't use Military Grade Composites, but other then that it's fully loaded. That's the unladen Jump, I also don't slot Hull Re-Enforcements beyond the 2 reserved military slots. I use those for Cargo Racks for 'bubble trading.'

This is the current loadout, she has some cargo capacity but make no mistake.. she's a combat ship.

I feel about the same in regards to the Anaconda (which I can barely tolerate), hence I never even tried the Cutter, even though I have the rep and the credits. Nevermind that at least in my eyes it's ugly as sin, too. So, from a purely fun-to-fly standpoint, nothing in that size department beats the Corvette for me.

Good call.. if you can't stand the way the Anaconda handles, you would absolutely hate the Cutter.

The Cutter makes the Anaconda look like a Vulture. [big grin]

Cutter only if you want to do trading I guess. The Corvette is overall the strongest for combat, BUT depending on what you want to do, you might not need that much power. Basically I would recommend the Corvette for PvP, or if you really only want to fight in a limited region of space. I switched to an Anaconda for PvE stuff a while back, as I can make a relatively light combat build, that is still strong enough for CZs or basically anything except thargoids, and can jump 34 LYs: https://eddp.co/u/RAJDhlbo

greetings all,

i checked all big three....

with well fitted combat anaconda you can kill thargoids easily solo.
cutter is for small distance trading and passenger missions in pve only. in open its great and easy target for amazing pvp combater with fast and well fitted plasma cannon ships :)
corvette is more agile than conda, not stronger, but more expensive for less hullpower.

im using my 1. 58ly jumping well-weaponed and shielded pvp/pve conda for long distance passenger- and middle distance trading missions.
im using my 2. well efficient-amoured fitted anconda for pvp/pve combating only.

for doing quick n dirty fast passenger and data missions, mats searching, (regarding to small guardian landingplaces) and combating around in bubble im using 2 daimond back explorer.

trading dbx :
full armored and shielded, 60ly jumprange - 2x 3t eco cabins maximum. earnings around 6-10mill. credits per 2 passengers i can transport. flight time around 1 hour for both missions only.

to get highpaid passenger and data missions:
become allied with all factions in your home system....

combat dbx :
huge hull reinforcement.. 2 beamlaser, 1 selftanking plasma cannon, sometimes an effect cannon only...
dbx is for real a great, cheap, strong and small combat ship against bigger ships in combat zones...

in all cases above you have to learn flight assistance off, handling pips as needed and cool running at stations without the use of landing computer... this is my experience and im happy to share with

best regards,

the numbers for you well - weaponed Anaconda with 58 ly range and full armored dbx with 60 ly range don't really check out i think, that sounds unreasonable. otherwise I'd like to see a link or screen shot how that is supposed to work.

hi,
regarding to new engineering i did it as i told above :) you may try and find out by your self... it is realy possible, but it takes patience and time for collecting lightweight mats... you`ll find them circeling around 1500ls of mainstars in high-populated boom, war etc systems.
best wishes...

The right tool for the right job.

Corvette as a battleship
Cutter as a trader/Miner
Anaconda for bulk passenger missions/exploration
Python for general mission running.
Chieftan for fun pew pew (Goodbye FDL I hate you now)
DBE for plan scan/courier runs
ASP E for exploration
Viper for fun PvP dueling
Hauler for demolition derby
I Eagle for canyon racing

When I was trying to decide which naval rank to go for first, I went for Imperial on the basis that unlocking the Cutter would be more useful than unlocking the 'vette would be.

To be clear, I like the 'vette more than the Cutter - it's just that the Cutter is more useful for various things in the game.

Add the Annie into the mix and things aren't quite as clear-cut.
The Cutter can carry more cargo than an Annie but it's more expensive and (arguably) not as versatile.

If you're going to spend a huge heap of credits on equipping the ship, put a lot of effort into engineering it, and then use it to haul cargo the Cutter will probably be the "best" ship for the job.
If you don't want to spend quite so much, and want to be able to do a variety of things, an Annie will probably give you better results on a modest budget.
If you want to spend a billion credits so you can melt NPCs with impunity, the Corvette is the ship for you.

Things are a bit different now, too.
It used to be that the Cutter was THE key to maximising profit on trading and bulk-cargo missions.
Now the T9 has an extra slot, if you previously just wanted a Cutter as a bulk-cargo ship, the T9 becomes a "cheap" alternative instead... as long as you remember to always run away from trouble.

agreed... t9 is a cheap trading ship alternative to cutter, but regarding to special highpaid tradings like procurement contracts, a 396t cargo conda with 48ly jumprange could be the better and fastest earning melkcow. because of less jumps... just my experience...

Uhuh,

Added to which, a lot of well-paid bulk-cargo missions tend to attract attention.
It can be frustrating if you load up a T9 with 4 or 5 cargoes but then spend the next hour constantly being interdicted while you try to deliver them.
In that case, it might be smarter to fly a half-decent Annie, take on fewer cargoes and at least you'll be able to fight off any NPC attackers.
